How do I guarantee a job by the time I graduate

Incoming Freshman and I want to make the most out of these 4 years by making projects, joining competition teams (Formula FSAE is only one my school has) and build things.
I am okay with CS (I am probably worse than an AI) but I really like hardware especially PCB design though I don't think I will be doing it as a job once I graduate.

What career paths would be good and what do I do to make sure Im fit for the job (like what projects or skills do I learn).

I could pursue a masters if needed as I am already looking into the possibility.

When did you first start making PCB

Hi

I am just starting to make PCBs and feel behind, as my FSAE team members have been making them for years, and most I have done is follow Phil's Lab tutorials. My team said we have to self-learn, as they dont have time to teach us, and I feel lost and stupid as it isn't clicking for me.

So I was just wondering when everyone started

When do people ushally get internships.

I am an incoming freshman who really wants to lock in and get an internship, but I was wondering how people got internships freshman year, as I dont have a large pool of knowledge and won't learn any EE freshman year other than math/physics.

Edit: I know I spelled usually as ushally didn't catch it 😢

Macbook pro with massive dent

Hi
I dropped my MacBook M4 Pro today and now have a massive dent that is stopping my computer from closing fully. What can I do?

I mean I can close it, but one side closes more than the other by like 1mm but the sharp top end of the dent is hitting the roof of the computer when closed

What Businesses can an EE do?

Hi,

So I am an EE in college who wants to start a business doing something EE-related because I love the degree (and dont wanna do e-commerce or smth like that). What businesses can I make that aren't gonna take me millions of dollars to start?

Everyone is doing a small business: CS students starting startups (mostly AI-related; my friend even dropped out to pursue his business after someone gave him 500k for 10% of the company), Business people doing whatever Business people do (I assume E-Commerce), but what can an EE do that wouldn't make me a CS major while also differentiating myself?

A few ideas I have had are making PCBs for people or drones, but those are both oversaturated, and I am not very ,trustworthy as no one knows me.

Any ideas?

FYI: I am mostly hardware; my CS skills are def worse than AI, and anything very hard like making my own flight controller from scratch I usually vibe code.

Incomming Freshman Scared for College and feeling hopeless

I am an incoming freshman at a mid-tier uni in California (Not a UC) (50% acceptance rate, maybe lower for engineering), and I genuinely feel behind. Every day before I sleep, I have a feeling of absolute dread knowing other people are smarter than me, know more than me, and probably will be more successful than me. I want to be successful and tried to do MIT 6.02 Intro to Circuits and Design, and genuinely got so lost during the course and struggled a lot, and still do. I am now trying to make a PCB, and it isn't an understatement to say I dont understand ANYTHING, and I spent at least 10-20 hours just watching videos and tutorials. I feel so behind in life and everything, and I tried so hard during HS to have good grades and score well on APs (even though I took 6 and most dont give me credit) and do FRC robotics (even though I didn't contribute much, as they didn't like me as I guess I was a slow learner or they expected me to come in with all the knowledge still not sure which one) but I now look back and realize while I was chasing a number other people were publishing research doing ISEF, and making cool projects.

At my school's orientation, I met multiple people who did internships at well-known companies and built self-landing rockets (showed me videos), drones, a UAV that goes over 300 miles per hour (which he brought to orientation to flex, I guess), and this just gives me a feeling of impending dread as I know I shouldn't compare myself, but I do. I may be a narcissist, but I dont like it when I am so far behind everyone else, and I can't be happy for them.

My dad was an EE with a master's at a top uni (now in upper management and is very successful at the top of his industry and recently got promoted), so I should have known stuff, but I dont. I told him my fears, and he said dont compare yourself, but I can't stop comparing myself to others.

I am writing this at 1 Am and I feel like a failure and can't tell anyone. Thanks for hearing my rant, and where do I go from here, as I want to be successful, get research, internships, and go to grad school?

Is EE right for me

I am an incoming freshman who has been trying to get ahead, but I dont understand the material.
I tried to make a PCB, but I have no clue where to start and am stuck in tutorial hell (I did breadboard work before this).

I tried to watch MIT 6.02 Circuits and Electronics, and I dont understand shit, and I have no clue where to go from here. Everyone at my uni seems to have some crazy projects and resumes, and I have seen some crazy resumes here from Sophmores and juniors. I dont think I will reach by Senior year. I have no clue what to do, and I feel very frustrated, and it doesn't help that I lost all my projects on GitHub because of the 2FA they made me turn on, and I forgot the code when I got a new computer, and now I dont have any projects.
I want to join Formula SAE at my school (which has one of my opps from HS in it), but they want PCB experience, and they are selective, so I dont think I will get in, and I dont have any knowledge to contribute to research and feel so lost.

Sorry for my rant idk, I just dont get where to start or go from here.

What does AI Alignment even mean

I've been thinking about something that feels like a contradiction in AI alignment.

People often say we need AI to be "aligned with human values." But if AI actually followed human values as we demonstrate them, wouldn't that be a disaster?

As a species, we've made incredible advances, but we've also spent centuries exploiting each other, overconsuming resources, damaging ecosystems, and prioritizing short-term gain over long-term sustainability. Greed, tribalism, and power struggles aren't exactly rare.

So what does "human values" actually mean?

Does it mean aligning AI with what humans do, what humans say they value, or with our ideal values, the people we aspire to be rather than the people we often are?

It seems like an AI that simply mirrored humanity would inherit all of our contradictions. But an AI that decides which of our values are the "correct" ones feels risky too.

So

I got a 5 on AP CSA, which skips CSEN 10 and CSEN 11, and I was wondering if I should go to 12 even though I have never coded in C++. I dont wanna take CSEN 12 and then not know anything and fail the class

What do you guys think?

What knowledge do I need before making a PCB

Incoming EE student who wants to learn to make PCBs but doesn't know anything about circuits or like that. What do I need to know/read, and once I do, how do I learn how to use KiCad.

Is the end goal maybe to make a top-tier flight controller? How long would it take to get to that level?

How hard is it to get in the Formula SAE team?

Incoming freshman wondering how hard it is to get on the Formula SAE team and what skills I need to have before joining?

It is the club I most look forward to, so I want to prepare so I can learn and hopefully do something cool.

I am an EE major btw

Is Handshake AI a scam?

Hi,

So I just got a message from a recruiter about Handshake AI and was wondering what your thoughts are on it? Someone told me this is very scam-like
I am an incoming freshman, and I dont have many CS skills. Could I still participate? How do I get started, and what would I need to do/know?
