lost my connection with reading , anyone experienced this ?

hey fellow readers, I hope this post finds you well.
I used enjoy reading books and researching about things that interest me as I always felt Like each book brings you to another head of space , It's really like they say living multiple lives and the amount of information that literally feel as if it scratches areas of your brain that you never thought existed and the feeling of satisfaction after reading something that you kind of feel like you knew before but know you know it better.
however, after a period of distress , I cut off reading completely and I feel like I kind of lost a part of me that made me feel something , losing a friend that is Always with you that you can think about different things that you can't discuss with actual people in your life.
if I don't push myself and do something about it I know that I'm gonna stay stuck and the longer It prolongs the more I feel empty and I know that readers know what I think about.
do you have similar experience ? and what did you do about it ?

to what extent can the brain handle prolonged stress and pressure

If a person is living with constant stress and anxiety daily regardless of its source, what can be the consequences of that ?

surviving long phases of constant anxiety

lately I've been experiencing constant anxiety and I can't isolate myself from the source of anxiety , and I've come to a point where I don't experience any emotions and found myself to be like depressed and low mood ,I'm not sleeping well and my appetite been decreasing too. honestly, I've been wondering about how much can the brain tolerate the pain to survive and what is its limit till It break apart. because I know that once this over the crash is gonna be huge.

forgetting what I learn , how to deal with that

basically I'm someone that forgets a lot and I wasn't like that before. but forgetfulness is impacting my studies in Software engineering and I feel that most of the studying I do is useless.
this is confusing to me , do you have any advice beside seeing a Doctor which I'm considering it later. noting that my focus is also decreasing a lot I don't know if it's from all the stress I'm experiencing

how to be more confident in your skills as a recent post grad ?

i hope this post reaches software engineers from all stages of their careers seniors, juniors, and especially people who, like me, are new to the job market and trying to find their place in the industry.

I’m a software engineering student graduating this year, and honestly, I often feel like I’m not competent enough.

When I look at other students sometimes even freshmen who seem to have built countless projects, learned several technologies, participated in competitions, or already gained experience, I can’t help but compare myself to them. I know comparison isn’t healthy, but I sometimes feel ashamed that I haven’t accomplished as much.

My journey into software engineering has been a little different.

I didn’t choose software engineering because I loved it from the beginning. It was actually my second option. During my first year, I seriously considered changing my major, and I had very little interest in learning programming languages or developing new skills.

Things started changing in my second year. I began to genuinely enjoy software engineering and finally decided that I wasn’t going to switch majors. But I still didn’t make much progress outside university. I spent that summer without learning a new skill, and during the academic year, most of my experience came from university projects, mainly using Java and Python. Even then, my knowledge was still quite basic.

In my third year, I started exploring web development. I learned React and started building websites, thinking that web development was something every software engineer should know.

But eventually, I realized that I don't like building websites.

Most of the ideas that excite me are more imaginative and, at least in my mind, would require me to explore AI and machine learning to bring them to life.

The problem is that right now, most of what I know is related to web development, particularly JavaScript and its ecosystem. And sometimes I worry that this isn't enough to get my first job.

I’m not writing this post because I’m lazy or because I expect people to simply tell me that everything will be okay. I genuinely want to improve.

What I would really appreciate is advice from software engineers who have been in a similar position people who graduated feeling underqualified, uncertain about their skills, or unsure about what direction to take, but eventually found their path.

How did you build your skills?
How did you gain confidence in your abilities?
How did you overcome the feeling that you weren't "good enough" to put yourself out there and apply for opportunities?

And if you were in my position, would you focus on strengthening what you already know, or start transitioning toward AI/ML even if it means starting almost from scratch ?

I’d genuinely appreciate hearing your experiences.

Maybe someone else graduating this year is feeling the exact same way, and this conversation could help them too.

resuming work on older project

how do you deal with resuming work on an older project that you didn't finish , i always forget why i did something even tho comments are available and my level of motivation is always lower than the motivation i initially started the projects with . it's a weird feeling that i think a lot of you have experienced or am i the only one?

do you have any tips dealing with this and how to quickly get back into the mood and focus mode

best way to store images in Mysql ?

i'm currently making a website using react , node.js and mysql as db.
the user should store images when he upload an announce and i don't know how to do that .
I've researched and found that storing as a Blob is not the best way especially that the user can store up to 3 images so querying would be expensive and slow and it gets messier once the database grows.

can you help me please?

so recently i learned the core concepts or node.js and express.js , authentification , how to connect db with node and build a small full stack application not using any framework for the front end just simple dynamic EJS pages .
now i have another fullstack project that i wanna build using the same technology but i want to use react.js fot the frontend .
i really don't know how to start , i did design the Ui using figma and did write the functionalities of the website but i don't know where to start to code whether to code the pages in react first then when done do the backend i dont even know how to connect both frontend and backend like i never did a project like this before

how do you choose the next coding project?

how do you actually decide what's worth building when you are learning a stack and want to advance and actually build something meaningful.

i currently want to build a full-stack website with the MERN stack that i learned recently . i have some limited time to do that and i mean by that only approximately a month.
i can't fully decide on the options out there , the only thing i'm sure about is that i don't wanna build a e-commerce website since that's very boring for me and there is high chance i won't stick to the project .
any ideas ? what's y'all experience with this ??

How do you structure your learning process?

whenever I learn new technology or some new concepts i always find myself asking a lot of questions about what am i reading about at the moment
say for example i'm reading about concept X definition or workflow or whatever then i read in that definition another concept Y which let's suppose i don't know about then i feel that i have to know everything about that concept Y to fully understand Concepts X , like how it works , why it is created or designed ...
and I do this for every single new thing that i read about which is frustrating and worse because probably i will forget about the details that i got into

want to hear some of y'all opinions of this , and from the software engineers that has the same approach and they managed it maybe share some system to retain the information you studied because i definitely don't want to lost these information later but i want to build on top of it

is it a waste of time building projects without using frameworks if you already know the foundational concepts needed for it ?

so currently i'm learning web dev and decided to start building some projects with pure javascript before moving to the frameworks .

knowing that i already learned some react basics and build the simple projects that are listed in the freecodecamp tutorial video . i tried back then to pause before the solution to every problem and did fairly well on applying what i was learning but i never build something big like a e-commerce website with it or a blog or anything that requires databases even though i know mongodb , mysql , oracle databases and previously made a e-commerce website using php which i forgot btw .

i understand the important concepts in javascript lfor example asynchronous operations , objects ,Modules , destructing.

i really need advise like my goal right now is to be able to comfortably build a any web application that requires both front-end and backend .

i really don't enjoy front-end much as much as the code is functional i don't really take great detail in it . although i want to get into machine learning and automation after web dev as it is what i really like and enjoy.

i really need your advice programmers !
