Does anyone have an AVA snow foam cannon - confused about dial setting

Hey,

I have an AVA Premium snow foam cannon set, and I used it for the first time today. I was trying to figure out the PIR calculations for some Bilt Hamber Snow Foam, but I got lazy and asked AI. It basically said to stick around 500ml in, and dilute up to the top of the cup (1L), and set the dial to 9. However, I snow foamed two cars and only used 200ml of the solution.

I'm confused by where the indicator for the dial is - it looks like there's a black notch at 12 o'clock, but when I turn the dial it doesn't correspond to 0 and 9, but 3 and 6-7. There's also 13 clicks on the dial rather than 9, so I'm very confused about how I'm meant to know what setting I'm on.

Can anyone offer some guidance?

Thanks

Customer service in the UK is terrible

Hey all,

I'll try to keep this brief, but I made a post last month that after receiving my Summit Kamado E6, there were various quality control issues, including enamel defects in the bottom bowl, and casters that kept falling out or moving out of position when they were meant to be fixed. Customer service was decent initially in that they attempted to send out replacement parts fairly swiftly (although they sent me the wrong parts). However, every time they sent me replacements, I had similar issues - the new bowl they sent also had defects, and the casters still kept falling out or not staying fixed at the angle they are meant to function.

I have been going back and forth with them for over a month, and I feel like they have given up on my issues. I have repeatedly sent photos and videos to them of the issues and asked if this is normal or if it will cause long-term issues, but they seem unable to answer any of my questions. 10 days ago they asked me to send a video of the casters, and I'm still waiting for a reply; I just chased them again.

So my overall experience with Weber has been very poor, and customer support is lacking - especially when it comes to getting swift answers to anything. Especially considering the price of a new Summit Kamado, I cannot recommend them - which is a shame because the grill seems pretty awesome.

At this point, I have also given up on expecting a satisfactory resolution from them. I have disassembled and reassembled the grill 5 times or so. The grill works at the moment, and I have bodged the casters to stay in, although steering it is not the easiest. If they gave me one more lockable caster, which seems to actually work unlike their fixed casters, and told me the little bubbles in the enamel are safe, I would be happy to move on with my life.

Summit Kamado E6 castors

Hi all,

UK based.

I have had nothing but trouble since I bought my Summit a month ago - absolutely trash quality control and customer support. Both bowls had defects, the casters kept falling out, the writing on the front was not straight. Support can only be emailed and they take days to reply, then the warranty support sent me the wrong parts. Whenever I ask them questions about how certain parts are meant to operate, they don't give me an answer and just send out new parts. Really disappointed in my overall experience with Weber considering the premium nature of the grill and the cost. Rant over.

Anyway, I have now been through multiple casters and I'm still struggling with them - they don't fall out anymore (small win) but I'm still having issues with the two fixed casters at the back. I assume being that they are fixed, that they should NOT rotate and you are meant to spin the grill in the direction you want and then push or pull it in a straight line to where you want. However, one of them keeps moving out of alignment, which then causes the grill to get stuck. Am I doing this correctly? Only the front caster freely spins (I heard that previous models may have had three spinning casters?) They have sent me 4 additional casters and most of them seem to have this issue. I do wonder if I am installing them incorrectly (I use a rubber mallet to make sure they are in correctly).

When aligned

and then it moves and causes a braking action

Defect in Summit Kamado?

Hey all,

Im based in the UK. I just received my Weber Summit E6 and I'm putting it together. I noticed that the enamel coating on the inside looks like it's bubbled, a different texture to the smooth coating of the rest. Is this something I should be concerned with or contact Weber about? Obviously it's a very expensive grill so I want it to be perfect!

Update 1: Just noticed another thing, the Summit Kamado writing on the front is wonky. Update 2: And another, the rear casters have issues too - one keeps falling off and the other is jammed and doesn't rotate freely, causing issues with moving the grill. I have contacted the store I bought it from and Weber support.

Not impressed with the quality control so far!

Thank you.

Is it possible to have a fire without smelling of smoke?

I just bought a Bonfire 2.0 and have used it twice. Both times, I have seen some secondary burn but nowhere near the nice photos you see, and I have smelled of smoke both times. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. I used kiln-dried hardwoods, cleaned out the stove, and used the stand. The top ring is facing up as instructed.

The first time I started the fire small with some kindling and then added larger logs gradually. The second time I started it with the top down method using larger logs with kindling on top. Unless I'm meant to fill the stove up with as many logs as I can, I can't see the fire getting big enough to have 360 secondary burn flames - and I still smell some smoke and my clothes stink when I come inside.

Blue bag restaurant charcoal 12kg for sale in Costco for under £15

https://preview.redd.it/hvb7xuun5p4h1.png?width=1376&format=png&auto=webp&s=ddd65eb1f48dd6ff88cbc3ed35e3dcd9d2263abe

Went into Derby Costco today to see this for sale - it was £14.68 for a 12kg bag, same bag as they sell in B&Q I believe, but much cheaper. I already have 4 bags of charcoal in my garage but it felt rude not to buy a bag.

I was going to pick up a Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0 as well, but Costco online is £40 cheaper than in store, so I ordered it online instead.

Best place to get smoking cuts (ribs and shoulder) to practice and at a human size?

Hey all,

I would like to practice my smoking this summer, and I have been looking at John Davidson and other online butchers, but there are a few issues with some cuts being far too big for a family of 2, and the cost (due to the size), and I don't have much freezer space to store them.

Can anyone recommend some specific products readily available (supermarkets or Costco) so I can practice? Ideally ribs or for pulled pork. I have been reading that most of the ribs you can get at the supermarket aren't meaty enough. I have a Costco membership.

I would like to try the Swift ribs/pork butt, but being American, I don't trust the quality.

Thanks.

Hey all,

I just purchased the Onlyfire ceramic kit as I read lots of good things about it, especially about it conserving fuel and holding temps longer. I did a test run yesterday with it and lit some lumpwood in the middle to see what temperature it reached and how long it ran. It only managed about an hour before the charcoal finished, which was disappointing (Big K Dura, but it was the bottom of the bag).

Can we share how people here use it, what they use it for and what techniques? Are you doing low and slow, having the snake with briquettes, using lumpwood? Do you leave it in all the time (without the deflector).

Hey all,

I'm struggling to find a reliable list of temperature controllers that are compatible with a 22" SnS kettle, which has a 1" smoke hole. I keep reading different things. If anyone has successfully added one to a kettle that fits a 1" hole, please let me know. Spider Venom won't fit because SnS has 4 legs.

Thanks

I have been using IOG for the past month since I bought an EV, and Octopus.Compare is telling me that Agile is the cheaper tariff based on my usage, as I don't use my car all that much to compensate for the expensive peak rates. I was wondering if there was a way to set up the charger to automatically work when rates are cheapest.

The scheduling option is fine if you have static rates but it won't work with Agile.

Thanks
