spotless water for car cleaning

Just to say i have nothing to do with this company what so ever, just thought its a great idea. Whilst at work [construction] i was talking to a guy about resin vessels for car cleaning/solar panels when he told me about a company called spotless water. Its used by window cleaners who have an account and fill up there on board water tanks like at a fuel station for cleaning windows and bits. I had to buy some 25 litre containers and a larger 150 litre container for home to transfer into which is a bit of a pain but round about the price of a resin bottle and resin. I have added a transfer pump into my home tank but i don't think its 100% required. 100 litres cost me 5 pound and there is an app with all the filling locations to see if one is near by. i do have a referral code, not sure how many times is will work but gives 10 pound credit. spotless59089

I done a quick vid for my mate Jim to show him so excuse my silly banter, i have my home tank and bits if anyone wants to see that let me know.

Help removing Buffer trails?

The owner before me (or someone he hired) has destroyed my paintwork with buffer trails.

Im a beginner and have tried to remove them with a DA and mcguires ultimate compound but it hasn't done much.

Do I need a specific product or technique to fix it? Or do I just need to pussyfoot around less and give it some more welly?

Thanks in advance

Screen smear removal

I've got a wonderful something on my cars screen - in real life it's only visible when dark or just at the right angle. No idea what it is, or then it arrived - but I noticed it after I got my car serviced.

It looks clear, or opaque when it's visible, and feels rough and slightly raised from the screen itself.

It's been wiped with damp microfiber and autoglym fast glass (briefly) but nothing seems to be moving it. Any ideas before I try fast glass again, or dare diluted isopropanol?

BH - Touch on - Dust Magnet

I’m finding that Bilt Hamber - Touch On is an absolute dust magnet.

It looks great and beads water great but it attracts so so much dust.

Is there any other coating to apply or similar pressure washer applied coating that repels dust? Or any other tips to deal with this?

Can I use the same dilution from a pump spray to a foam cannon?

Just curious if I could get away with saving some product. I'm tired of the IK Foam Sprayer and pumping it over and over again every panel. I was considering getting a IK multi pro 12 sprayer or foamer, but I'm not sure if being a weekend worrier justifies the amount of money for it. I only wash my car and my wife's car on the weekends, when it's not raining here in Ireland. I don't really care much about getting amazing foam, but more of getting my car clean and ready for contact wash. I do have foam cannons, but just the amount of product I need to dilute is way to much for a small 4 seater skoda and a 7 seater family car. Would it possible for me to get away with adding 50ml to 100ml of say BH Touchless, or any Citrus Prewash (Sno X, ect...), or Do I really need to follow the PIR dilution ratio?

Concerned about this dealer applied ceramic

So we had GuardX CX2 applied to our new Kia by the dealer about 6 weeks ago. Since then I've been concerned that the performance on the roof and bonnet is just not good enough. Am I being unreasonable and do the photos look like a car that has had a full ceramic treatment at a not insignificant cost? I've included one of the door which looks and behaves more like I would expect; when hosing it down, the water beads instantly and flies off. Whereas on the roof and bonnet, light rain will bead, but water from washing or heavy downpours just sits in larger areas with very gently sloping edges.

26 plate Audi Q2 steering wheel suddenly gone dry/pale after hand car wash – any ideas?

Hii, please help! I have a brand-new Audi Q2 black edition (2 months old).

The steering wheel was completely even and matte black when I got the car. After taking it to a local hand car wash (they cleaned the inside & out) - I’ve noticed the top of the steering wheel has gone much lighter & looks dry/chalky compared with the rest. It almost looks like the surface finish has changed or dried out.

Photo 1 - steering wheel brand new.
Photos 2-4 - steering wheel now.

It’s also been very hot recently & I use a Disclok wheel lock, so I’m not sure if that could be related or if it’s just coincidence.

Has anyone seen this before? And if so, what should I do😭. I can’t say for sure it was the hand car wash - it could be something else I’ve got no idea!

The car is so new that I don’t want to make it worse by applying the wrong product.

Any advice would be massively appreciated. Thanks!

Cleaning a "Matt" door area?

Hey all!

Lurking for a while now, but I have this matte plastic on all my doors that doesn't seem to ever look clean. Any product suggestions?

Also, I'm more into detailing the interior of my car. Any all-around sprays for the dash and plastic that you swear by?

Phat Neut ,I think i was harsh

Hi,

i posted how I was happy with it as a pre wash but otherwise not sold on it.

Today I helped my neices clean up a kitchen of a house they are moving into ( rent). They sent me photos of the kitchen.

The kitchen whilst not shabby had dark brown grease "drips" on the walls and tiles where it looked like some sort of air fryer or something similar had been used for years. They used fairy liquid but it was a slog and not doing much.

Anyway I thought sod it, mix up some phat neut 100ml in 700mls and give it a go .Im not fussed about wasting it. I just sprayed it on, waited approx 60 seconds and wiped off with a bathroom towel.

It just came right off, no effort. Some areas needed a second hit but that was all. I then went on to use it on the pvc window frames in the immediate area and again from greasy to clean.

Yes yes yes I know there are bespoke kitchen cleaners for this but i was curious on what to do with this bottle I purchased.

To be honest I was gob smacked, so we're they, so was my brother. They couldn't believe it was a car detailing product.

Now ive seen people wonder how it would work on really dirty ,winter greasy , grimey surfaces? trust me this kitchen wall and tiles were bad.

If it worked on those I reckon it will handle a dirty, winter greasy car ,which has a smooth none porous surface with no issues.

Another daft post ( apologies) but I love carrying out experiments and testing theories ( old habit from my first profession).

How do I get rid of this?!!!

Bought my car 2 months ago brand new. Every morning, I get a weird smearing that completely obstructs my vision. I have used 3 different window cleaners and scrubbed it with a sponge with no change.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I will try them after work and let you know what worked

Best pump sprayer and detailing chemicals in the UK?

I’m looking to buy a new pump sprayer for car detailing and would love to hear your recommendations.
Which pump sprayer do you think is the best available in the UK?
I’m mainly considering:
IK
Hydro
Kwazar
Marolex
Are there any others I should be looking at?
Also, if you could only choose one detailing chemical brand, which would it be?
Bilt Hamber?
Koch Chemie?
CarPro?
Auto Finesse?
Gtechniq?
Infinity Wax?
AutoGlym?
Something else?
I’m interested in real-world experience rather than marketing.
Thanks!

Has car cleaning gone too far?

Morning,

My neighbour and myself were chatting late last evening about washing the cars. Both > 50 ( age).

We spoke about how much the car detailing world and products available for everyday people like us seems to have exploded over the last few years. It reminded me of how craft beer exploded in 2016 and just grew exponentially.

We both agreed on some things

a) there are more products now available which make car cleaning easier. back in the day prewashes , good wheel cleaners , good waxes or spray sealant didn't really exist and those that did definitely felt less effective.

b) so much choice of companies to suit all budgets

c) maybe too much choice, massive range of products can get confusing and costly

d) entertaining, its good watching videos of people trying out products and reviewing them , although we were sceptical about some reviewers.

e) devisive - like all things in life , especially now you're either correct or stupid, you should like this brand or you should not like it. Relax its car cleaning.

anyway thats all , keeps us active have a good day

Buying kit for Grandson

Hi all. My Grandson (18) has got his hands on an old porsche. Although the condition is pretty good the bodywork would benefit from some tlc. I'm looking to help get him started but have no idea on products or, in fact, the best way to go about it. Im thinking wash/cut/polish/treat? All help would be appreciated. Included in the advice, if possible, would be pads and buffers. Thanks for any advice.

How can I reduce scratches/swirl marks on a resin-finished marble table?

Hey guys,

I just received a marble table I had made in China. The stone itself looks great and overall the table is what I wanted, but the clear resin finish on top has a lot of fine scratches / swirl marks that show badly under direct light.

The scratches don’t really catch my fingernail, so I’m hoping they’re only in the clear resin layer and not anything deep. It almost looks like a black car with bad swirl marks in the clear coat.

I’ve been looking around on Amazon and saw a few different routes: Novus plastic polish, Chemical Guys VSS, Meguiar’s compounds, Carfidant, Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions, and some 3M kits. Some seem to be just polish, some include sandpaper, and some have a resin/filler step. Since this is a big flat tabletop, I’m worried about making it worse or ending up with uneven gloss/hazy patches.

Has anyone here worked on a resin-coated fixtures or epoxy/resin tabletop like this before? Would you start with something like Novus or a light automotive polish, or is this something that really needs a professional refinish?

Appreciate any advice before I start experimenting on it.

Any UK budget stores worth checking for snow foam or interior cleaners?

I'm currently in the UK for a few days and was wondering if there are any budget stores that are worth checking out for car detailing products.

I was already thinking about visiting B&M, but are there any other chains that regularly stock decent snow foam, interior cleaners, APCs, microfibre towels or other detailing supplies at good prices?

I'm not necessarily looking for premium brands, just products that offer good value for the money. Any hidden gems or UK-exclusive products I should keep an eye out for? Thanks!

Dilution calculator with products

Hey detailers,

I’m a solo dev who details on the side, and I kept forgetting my dilution ratios, so I made a little app called Detailution to do the math for me.

It’s got 400+ products with their mix ratios already in there, and you can add your own too. You just put in the ratio and how much you want to make and it works out the rest. Runs fully offline too.

Android only for now, link’s in the comments. If people actually want it I’ll do an iOS version too.

Would be cool to hear what you think. If something’s missing or wrong, or there’s a product I should add, let me know.

My Bilt Hamber Phat Neut review - seems pretty good, any streaking seems to be down to how you dry

https://youtu.be/KG27Qabb7u8

Let me know what you think based on what I've shown here. I definitely want to explore more but I am impressed, the cleaning ability is incredible for a pH neutral product, let alone one that has zero safety symbols required.

£150 to buy everything - what do you buy?

Just bought a 987 Cayman and want to clean it myself rather than take it to a scratch and shine :). The only thing I currently have is a pressure washer.

What would you buy with £150 to spend? My main priority is simplicity, i.e., I would rather do an okay job with little time spent than a great job with loads of time spent.

I'd very much appreciate your input on products, microfibres, wheel brushes, buckets, etc.

I am guessing it will be a basic pre-wash, a shampoo , a quick detailer, and then a couple of sponges, a bucket, and a pack of microfibres? Oh, and a wheel brush and wheel cleaner?

£150 isn't a hard limit, but I would struggle to justify spending much more. At least in terms of just getting started.

Your advice and knowledge would be hugely appreciated.

What microfibres are we using? + Waterless/Rinseless Wash

It’s time for me to buy some new microfibres, but there are so many differing opinions!

I’ve seen that the subreddit wiki recommends the Kirkland brand however I’ve seen that these can cause small marring?!

I’m also interested in The Rag Company. I have their waffle weave glass cloths which I am happy with but have seen that some of there other stuff may not be so good? I currently have the eagle 350, general purpose edgeless 365 and the creature 420 in my basket. Would you recommend any of these or TRC as a whole?

Are there any other brands I should be looking at? Halfords do anything decent?

What GSM are we using for each task (and do I really need a selection of differing GSM cloths)?

——

Bonus question! I know I shouldn’t be wiping dust and pollen off my car. I live in an area with a lot of nature (bug splatters, bird poo (which gets cleaned immediately where possible)), lots of trees and pollen. My car frequently becomes very dusty even between weekly washes, where it doesn’t really warrant a full wash, so I’m looking into waterless/rinseless for a “maintenance” / get the bird mess off between my main washes. Provided it’s safe to do this kind of wash in this scenario?

What would you recommend for that? Waterless vs rinceless? Which gives a better and safer clean. I’ve seen lots of good things about ONR v5, P&S Absolute, Bilt Hamber.

I know it’s lots of questions, but thanks for any help in advance!
