Why are younger adults still so resistant to hearing aids?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately...I have a friend struggles with hearing in loud settings like restaurants, bars, or group hangouts. He’s well aware of it, but whenever the topic of getting a hearing aid comes up, he shuts down it. Interesting that he has no problem wearing AirPods or earbuds in public all day long. So I’m curious what makes hearing aids feel so different psychologically. Is purely a social stigma thing, or is it something about how these devices look and feel? For those who experienced this hesitation yourselves or know someone who did, how did you/they get past it.

How do you practice speaking Norwegian when nobody around you speaks it?

This is something I've been struggling with for a while and I don't really have a solution yet so genuinely asking here.

Five months into learning Norwegian. Reading is slowly getting there, grammar is starting to make sense, vocabulary is okay. But speaking feels like a completely separate thing that I've barely touched because there is literally nobody around me who speaks Norwegian. I live somewhere where finding a Norwegian speaker is basically impossible and I can't do paid tutor sessions every week, that adds up fast.

The longer I go without actually speaking the more intimidating it becomes. I tried just talking to myself at home and it feels pointless because I have no idea if what I'm saying is even correct or if I'm just drilling bad habits into my brain at this point.

I've been doing some shadowing with Norwegian podcasts and YouTube, basically just repeating what native speakers say out loud. It feels a bit silly but I think it's doing something at least.

I saw a lot of people mention Issen across different language learning communities, not just Norwegian but for other languages too. Apparently it's an AI you just speak to and it gives you feedback. Has anyone here actually tried it for Norwegian specifically? I'm considering it but I don't want to waste time on something that doesn't work well for less common languages.

Also been looking at Hello talk for finding a language exchange partner but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Basically just looking for what's actually working for people in the same situation. Solo learners who don't have Norwegian speakers around them at all. What does your speaking practice actually look like day to day? Is it even possible to make real progress without regular human conversation or am I just going to hit a wall at some point?

Car gets covered in road grime after rain. Tried snow foam first, am I doing this right?

Every time it rains, the car ends up covered in road grime, mostly on the front bumper, bonnet, wings, and lower doors.

I used to give it a quick rinse and then go straight in with a wash mitt. Lately I’ve noticed the dirt feels gritty, like there’s mud and small bits of sand mixed in, so I’m starting to wonder if I’ve been adding light scratches without realising.

This weekend I changed the process a bit. I’ve got a Giraffe Tools wall-mounted pressure washer in the garage with a retractable hose, so I pulled that out and used a foam cannon first. Covered the car in snow foam, with extra on the front bumper, wheel arches, and lower doors, then let it sit for a few minutes.

After the foam started running off, I rinsed it down from a bit of distance, then washed with shampoo and a mitt. It felt safer than going straight to contact washing, and there seemed to be less grit left on the paint.

Not sure if this is the right order though, or if snow foam is overkill for this kind of post-rain grime. Do you usually pre-wash first, or is a plain rinse enough before the mitt?

Tomodachi Life Living the Dream (but I ain't) [Improve fps]

Hi guys so I emulated Tomodachi life on my phone (Oppo Reno8 T) I also adjusted some settings to improve the fps. It did improve but it is only fast when it's the loading screen but when the island shows, the fps drops. How can I improve it? This pirate is desperate.

[Need Advice] $15 per video

Guys, I am working with a client who pays $15 per video, I just finished making a 25 minute video and it took me 20 hours to make that. Is it worth it? I don't know if I should keep it up or just give up. It took me 10 hours to find pictures and clips and 10 hours for putting transitions, video effects, and texts. The reason I want to give up is because I feel like all I do all day is just editing and I don't even have time for myself because I keep stressing about the deadline. This is our set up. My client gave me the script and audio today at 3am and the deadline is tomorrow evening. Thinking that my whole two days is dedicated again for video editing a 30 mins video, it's gonna take 20+ hours of my life again and I will have no rest. And I feel like I will not be satisfied with the work that I do because it will be rushed. Guys is it reasonable? I feel like videos like that should take 4 days or a week to be finished and be good. Plus our house is going through renovation, I'm assisting the workers. I do house chores. I don't know anymore, this is my first time video editing work and I'm feeling overwhelmed.
