I know Balan Wonderworld wasn't very well received, especially because of its gameplay, and many people ended up disappointed with it. Even so, I've always loved the game's character designs and the emotional stories behind its characters. That's what I thought to reimagine Haoyu Chang and Yuri Brand in the art style of Total Drama.
Haoyu's story is about perseverance and never giving up on your dreams. Ever since he was young, he dreamed of flying through the sky. He spent countless hours building inventions to make that dream a reality, but every attempt ended in failure, leaving behind nothing but twisted scrap metal. After so many disappointments—and one failed invention nearly costing him his life—his frustration overwhelms him, causing him to become the monstrous Worville Wright. Once he's freed from his corruption, a simple paper airplane reignites his inspiration. Refusing to give up, he designs a flying bicycle that finally takes to the skies, allowing him to achieve the dream he had worked so hard for.

Yuri's story is about acceptance and finding people who appreciate you for who you are. She's always loved insects, spiders, and other creatures that most people find creepy, but her classmates never understood her passion. Because of this, she was isolated and feared, eventually becoming the lonely Wormsworth. After she's saved, Yuri quietly shares the beauty of a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis with a group of classmates. Instead of rejecting her, they become fascinated, finally understanding her interests and accepting her for who she is. For the first time, Yuri finds genuine friends and is no longer alone.
I thought these two had some of the most heartfelt character arcs in the game, and I wanted to imagine how they'd look if they were contestants in Total Drama, while staying faithful to their original personalities and designs.

Jose's story is about perseverance. After working tirelessly on his farm, a devastating tornado destroys everything he's built. Consumed by despair, he's corrupted into Barktholomew. Once freed, he discovers a single corn plant that survived the disaster, giving him hope and the determination to rebuild his life from the ground up.

Fiona's story is about overcoming fear and rediscovering trust. A diving accident causes her to believe the dolphins she loved had betrayed her, leading to her corruption into Anjellica. After she's saved, she returns to the ocean, realizes the incident was just an accident, and rekindles her love for the sea and her dolphin friends.
