So at the ripe old age of 51, we’re adding a newbie to our brood! It’s only 13 weeks, but according to the ‘nub theory’ these brothers will have a Sister to look after!
Jack (13) has already nominated himself as ‘Boyfriend Gatekeeper’ so heaven help anyone who has eyes for his sister!
Now I’ve had to write off and scrap my Volvo V60 T5 (a rare old girl with a Ford engine that decided to let go!), I’m thinking about what to replace it with that’s not the usual Audi/BMW/Mercedes.
I came across a video of the Giulia QV and started to delve deeper. Now as lovely as a QV is, it’s way too far out of my budget but I do love the shape of them (and the interior looks a nice place to sit).
Is there any ‘real world’ feedback anyone can give on what they’re like to own? I’m not a big guy (5ft9 around 14st) so being built for Italian frames shouldn’t worry me, but it’s anything else to consider?
I’m also keen to know what extras to look out for when viewing 2nd hand models. My budget is £25k which seems to give me good choice. And I’m not afraid to modify it, nothing extreme just stage 1, suspension and geometry and maybe a bit of bodywork (I do love the PariS’5 kit) so any advice on positive enhancements will be gratefully received.

So I have had to say goodbye to my 1 of 1 V60 T5. The timing chain decided to skip 4 cogs on its Ford engine and it is now ‘beyond economical repair’.
She’s been a good girl these past 4 years and I was looking forward to getting back in my Focus ST in a Swedish Dress as I liked to call her to embarrass the ‘boy racers’ out there.
For now I’ll be driving my Mini until I decide what I get next. As we’re now adding 1 more to our house in November a family of 5 is a ‘tad’ too big for Mini life 😂

Given the success of the BMW Touring at last weekends N24 race I thought I’d see what a Volvo V60 and older BMW 3 Series would look like.
While I’m a Volvo guy at heart, I have to say the BMW version looks good. Pick up a 335d or 340 with a mild tune and it could be a fun weapon to drive …
Seeing as the Beemer M3 Touring GT3 is getting some attention at this weekends N24 race (and running in the top 6!), I wondered what an older Volvo would look like in a similar build spec…. I think I’m in love and have a new direction for my own V60 T5 build
So my rare lady has decided to stretch her timing chain (got all the fault codes and the mileage aligns with what many experience this).
Does anyone know how big a job this is, and how many hours of time it would likely take? This has the rare Ford 2.0 (245bhp) petrol engine (same as the Focus ST). I’m just trying to get a feel for how much I need to budget for this.
