Travel and Home tanks for my first MBK!

First and foremost, I just wanted to thank you guys here in this forum! I've been asking a lot of questions lately the past few days because I'm finally picking up my MBK tomorrow morning and this is the first reptile I've ever owned. I'm trying not to be too nervous of a new snake mom, but I can't help myself, so I'd like your opinions on these tanks that I have: one for travel and one for home.

The first picture is the tank I'm planning to bring her home in when I pick her up. I covered the sides with a scenery background do she doesn't get overwhelmed (taped on the outside). Please be honest, is that too much? I also put some fake pothos leaves in there so she can have a place to take cover. I didn't think to get a proper smaller hide 🫠 Although I probably could buy that at the reptile store where I'm picking her up unless they just give me one.

The second pic is the home tank and I'd like like to know what you guys think of the setup so far! The same background I used for the travel tank is taped on the wall behind this one as that's all I had left 😅 I have damp moss for hydration and to keep the humidity level up a bit in the tan hide on the warm side (humidity has been a consistent 45%-55%). The big wooden cave has a lot of those pothos plants behind it, the driftwood for climbing, and I have only one rock near the heat lamp. I had another grey flat rock, but it got too hot too quickly, and I think I need to switch out my daylight bulb.

I have a 100W daylight bulb and a 60W basking bulb at the moment, but it got up to about 93°F on the rock and even on top of the moss hide with both of them turned on. I had a 100W basking bulb but found out that was too hot, and the only option I could find in person to test right away was the 60W. The 60W alone got the rock up to 88°F and I'm waiting for my UVB tubular bulb to come on Sunday. I was supposed to get it today for further lught/temp testing, but the order got delayed 🙃 Any advice in placing items differently or even replacing/removing anything early tomorrow morning would be greatly appreciated!

Will an air conditioner stress out my MBK?

I recently learned watching a YouTube video that if you can't have a dedicated reptile room, a living room is a popular place to put your snake, which is my case right now. However, if you have air conditioning in there, the noise from the air conditioning as well as watching TV could stress out the snake.

I had my AC on all day today when I was out. I used my temperature gun and the tank was 68.5°F. I have not set it up with my lights or anything yet (will do tomorrow, getting my MBK this weekend), but I'm worried that it still might be too cold if I have the AC on all day so that my apartment is cool enough for me, though I'm willing to not blast it on the highest setting if it comes to that-- we're currently going through a heatwave on the east coast of the USA which is why I did that earlier today 🥵

I'm thinking to possibly put my snake in my bedroom. It's on the other side of the wall of the living room and I open my door to let some of the cool air in, but it's not by a whole lot. The temperature in my bedroom was about 74°F after I got home. I usually keep my bedroom door closed (but now I have it open by a few inches) when I go to bed and have a tall oscillating fan going to keep me cool enough at night. My temperature gun currently reads ~78°F now due to the heatwave.

The only other option I can think of is a decent sized coat closet in my living room that's next to a back door leading to the yard. It's big enough to fit my 36”×18”×18” tank and the table it sits on. I would keep the door partially open to let in air and to help eliminate the AC and TV noise. The closet is in the corner of the same wall where the tank is now, and the AC is across from that wall (livingroom is ~400 sq ft).

I live in a 1 bedroom single floor in-law apartment that's attached to my landlord's house, so I have limited options regarding space. Any ideas and encouragement is welcome. Thank you for taking the time to read all of this!

Fixing the screen on the top of the tank

The tank my sibling gave me is an older Exo-Terra tank they don't make anymore, so I cannot simply buy an entire replacement for the screened top 🙃 Would it be doable to simply use screen tape to cover the holes or will my MBK somehow still escape through them? I was thinking to tape both sides for extra security, unless taping only the outside would be best. I'm supposed to pick up my MBK this Friday so any quick tips would be greatly appreciated!

Water bowl too big for soaking?

My sibling is giving me their supplies from when they had a bearded dragon including a 30 gal 36"×18"×18" tank. I'm picking up my baby MBK this weekend and she's ~6 months old. Will this water bowl be way too big for her to soak in? It's pretty warm and kinda humid where I am right now and have read snakes like to bathe to cool down. I'll get her a smaller bowl to drink from, but I would like to know if this would be dangerous for her or not. Thank you!

Is there any way to get rid of this discoloration?

For context, I finally got a place of my own and to decrease the 1st month's rent, we agreed to have me clean it after the previous tenant moved out! The dark spots around the white center of the bathtub are slightly lighter than pictured here, but they won't go away 100%. The rest of the tub was GROSS with brown/black gunk shmeared around the edges from years of neglect (other than when the previous tenant took showers). I cannot remove this white center because it's caulked onto the tub, save for one of the corners peeling off a bit.

I tried paper towels soaked in hydrogen peroxide pressed on it for at least 30 minutes and I used Clorox foam bleach spray with a Scrub Daddy, which took most of it off (on 2 separate days, not at the same time). Should I have my landlord remove this for me if it won't damage the tub? I was hoping to take baths at my new place but now I'm not so sure 😕

What is a good enclosure size for a baby MBK?

Hi everyone! I'm on the path to getting a new MBK next month and by the time I get her she will be ~5 months old. I've been doing research on what size enclosure to get for her and just recently learned that getting a bigger tank could be stressful for baby snakes.

My sibling is kind enough to give me their old 40 gallon tank 36"×18"×18" from their bearded dragon who passed years ago, but I'm worried that could be too large and stress her out. I've read and watched only a few claims that a 12"×12×"12" or a 10-20 gallon tank will be suitable for her size. I've also read that filling a bigger tank with wood, fake plants, etc to make it seem smaller could help with the stress.

So I'm hear to ask: what are your inputs on this? Would the 40 gallon tank be doable or should I look for a smaller tank until she is about to outgrow it?
