Is the career job fair and internships in general only offered by companies based in Merced?

I plan on going to UC Merced for electrical engineering, but I don’t want to stay in Central California after I graduate. However I do plan on taking full advantage of research and internship opportunities.

I’m just wondering how internships work, as in is it only companies that are based in Merced that are offering internships to students? Is it a bad idea to go to UC Merced if I don’t want to stay there for a job after graduation? I’m from Los Angeles and want to find a job here or near SoCal after I graduate.

Planning on moving to Merced with my border collie, but worried about the summer heat.

My dog overheats pretty easily, but she also needs like an hour of park time everyday. Do you guys know of any large grass parks that’s completely shaded near Merced?

edit: Thank you for the responses guys, I’ve decided I’m going to leave my dog with my mom in Southern California during the summers, and during the not hot months I’ll keep her in Merced.

Is it a bad idea to take the plastic apart to clean out all the gunk, or just let a professional detailer clean it?

Just got this car as a gift and I want to clean it up. Will a professional detailer be able to clean all the dirt in the crevices without issues, or should I attempt to take apart all the plastic and clean it myself?

edit: Damn I’ve never been to a subreddit with people so eager to help. Thank you so much guys!

Is this university worth it for electrical engineering if the drive is 46 miles from my house?

Is this university worth it for the engineering program in comparison to a university like UC Irvine? I’ve just read good things about the hands on experience at CPP compared to the UC’s, but UC Irvine is a lot closer to my house and I will get more financial aid from them. I’d probably have more time to study if I went to UC Irvine since I wouldn’t need a part time job and the commute is very short. However I really am worried about finding a job after I graduate (like all of us), so what is the best choice here?

I'd like to transfer to UC Merced next Spring, but I am really wanting to do electrical engineering. It seems like electrical engineering does not have ABET accreditation at UC Merced yet though, so does anyone know if this will change soon? If not, I will probably just do mechanical at Merced because it seems like the perfect university for me.
