Hi all, New to sailing, just inherited my first boat from a friend, a paceship py26 with a centerboard keel. In doing some looking around, the general wisdom seems to be not to take it offshore, but having seen people cross the Atlantic or pacific in 23' boats, so I'm just trying to temper my expectations.

Would taking this boat out on the open ocean be a death sentence, or just uncomfortable and or tight? Educate me.

New to sailing, recently acquired a 1978 PY 26 from a friend. Would love to hear if anyone has experience with this boat, or advice for someone starting out!

Lucky to have a few friends who have a lot of sailing experience, I've been on sailboats a handful of times over the years, but never sailed myself. Excited to learn and get started!

I have a Phase Perfect dpc 30 that was running my friend's shop, until it started blowing two of the small fuses, both 3a fast blow, I believe they are power for the control board. He replaced the output filter caps, and I've pulled and tested for dc leakage the bus caps, and a multimeter showed the igbts had normal readings terminal to terminal. Currently, with fresh fuses, the converter fires up, and I can hear the inverter start running, for about 1 second before the fuses blow. About the only questionable parts I've found, are a couple of MOVs that meter below spec, but running it briefly without them, there's no Change. What should I be looking for for problems, or is there somewhere I can take it to be tested and or repaired? I believe I am at the limit of my skill/knowledge.

There's no obviously smoked components, or other visible failures.
