PSA: I understand you dont pick up samples. Please stop punishing people that do.

The MO is to collect samples from UVP Alpha. We all know it, we all read it, we all see it.

I've been kicked FOUR TIMES from different matches with randoms because I'm "Not doing anything." or "throwing" because instead of purely running to the next point, I'm doubling back to loot the samples in the POIs that my fellow divers walk passed.

I've been kicked once before the dive even began for picking the Sample Scanner booster instead of "one of the meta picks".

I'm not asking anyone to change their ways. I cant even get allies to come help me open a bunker 20m away or pick up super credits, I for sure am not expecting a stranger to pick up commons. I'm asking for anyone reading this to make a conscious effort to stop punishing those trying to do the MO.

Agreed? Great.
Happy Diving.

If you're gonna name it Meteor, I'm going to make it one.

Real talk though, its amazing how much ships can improve by simply taking the landing gear off, and putting in two more D30 engines.

I'm new, and seek guidance.

Good evening all!

My TTRPG table has taken an interest in making a V5 VTM game after much discussion during our normal other various TTRPG games, and I simply find ourselves with questions.

We've initially landed on Darkness Weaver, supplemented with the paradoxwiki, and anyflip for the books, our character sheets and creations; but note that Darkness Weaver is missing some v5 books such as Live from the Succubus Club.

Is the work on V6 already taking over?
By that I mean has work stopped on digitize v5 so progress into v6 can progress?
Are there notes or plans on the progress of the site that we've simply missed?
Are there other, more comprehensive tools that we should be looking into?
Are there methods within Darkness Weaver we simply haven't seen yet to add the missing pieces we enjoy, such as the Loresheets and powers?

Given the reaction we have seen so far on V6, and noting with mechanics comparison that it seems to be catching what we have taken to calling "the plague of DnD 5.5", our plan is to start at V5 and work back towards v20 or Revised if we need a change.

...I guess I'm hoping for any answers or advice or tools that would help us be smooth and successful as we can be from the start. I'd love any opinion or advice anyone has.

Thank you all in advance!

Genuine question: Why is "The H word." such a bad thing in PF2e?

I'm not advocating for or against, I've purely noticed that even mention of homebrew gets folks hackles raised and a comment/post downvoted to oblivion.

I've not been here (the subreddit) long, so just purely and truly asking. Is there a reason the idea of homebrew gets that level of reaction?

Edit: Y'alls passion is inspiring. I posted this and went to let my dog out, and came back to 45 notifications.

Edit2: Ok so from what I can glean so far with the current 79 comments, everyone seems to be falling generally into three camps.

  1. Scarred by bad homebrew.
  2. Folks homebrewing without playing the game/knowing the content and thus making what already exists.
  3. Folks that started in 5e, and thus EXPECT the TTRPG to be broken and require those "Ask your DM" fixes.

This makes a lot of sense, and... if I'm honest I fell firmly into the third camp and didn't even realize/have the words for what I was looking for.

Thank you everyone!

I've spent a long long time playing this game off and on, and seen tons of changes over the years. I remember the times before core mining, before fleet carriers and colonization, before SCO, before most things tbh. I lost my first character when I hit a debt so heavy I couldn't pay it back, when some smuggling runs from Robigo in my Diamondback went south, and suddenly I was upside down 10million with the mob (wild to think 10m in debt was "its easier to start over" levels). I started this one fresh after coming back once Odyssey had stabilized a year or two ago.

I know some people make this in an afternoon, but its still special to this old hound.

And goddamn are you lot great.

See you out there o7

For awhile there, the highest I could find is 12-15m, then 18-22m, then a 35m.

I dont have the exacts pinned down, but it really really feels like it matters how many/few people are doing the missions and willing to make the 60-90 LY round trips.

Edit: And just like that Ryman dropped to 18, and I found a 50 at Dashiell

Now I've seen a lot of people note, from what I understand rightly so, that they didn't like the ending of Episode 5. I've also seen posts about the game itself being Mixed in recent reviews (with 88% overall positive) and Wintermute being Overwhelming Negative in the recent (and Mixed in the overall), and it got me thinking.

...the game itself was survival mode only from Sept 22nd, 2014 through Aug 1st, 2017. During that time, it sat comfortably in Overwhelmingly Positive (95+%) reviews, with it peaking at 97%. ...That I can tell from Steams visibly stats, its never been that high again. Even the introduction of chapter 1 and 2 after three years of riding high started a slow decline from its peak.

Which raises an interesting question. The Devs have proven they can make a heck of a game, they just struggle with the writing of a story, and I'm super curious if Blackfrost would legitimately do better if they simply released it the same way. Strip the story and run it survival mode only, see how it does for a few years, then if they really insist start adding some story stuff in.
