Living in a 1bdrm condo, roughly 520 sqft, no carpet. Hopefully under $500. I'm a shift worker so I'm hoping it can run daily without getting stuck anywhere around 4 ish in the afternoon when no one is home.

I’m looking for some advice regarding upcoming mandatory annual fire inspection and testing at my strata building in BC (managed by a property management company).

I received the notice from the Strata Manager's assistant a few days ago stating that access to my unit is required. Because of my work schedule, I am physically away from my unit from 08:00 to 15:00 on weekdays.

Immediately after receiving the notice, I replied to the email asking for options regarding a key drop-off, or to see if my unit could be scheduled toward the end of their window (around 15:30). I haven't received a response, so I sent a follow-up email today reiterating that I am still waiting for a response to make arrangements.

The initial notice doesn't list a specific fine amount, but it emphasizes that access is mandatory. I am worried that if the inspection date arrives and they haven't replied to coordinate a key drop or a time slot, they will slap me with a hefty non-compliance fine or charge me for a contractor call-out fee.

1. Can they legally fine me if I have a clear paper trail showing I actively tried to coordinate access and they simply ignored me?
2. What are my best next steps to protect myself?
