When did you start boarding your puppy?

I heard that its good to start early so the puppy gets used to being boarded, but how soon is TOO soon?

My havi pup is 4 months now and Im thinking of maybe boarding him for a night later next month with someone on Rover. Not 100% sure yet though!

The thing Im worried about is that he’s getting so good at crate and potty training at home, I wouldn’t want him to regress. Also hes still so tiny (6lbs), I would be worried if the boarder has larger dogs there.

Puppy has been lethargic and keeps laying by his water bowl

Puppy is currently 15 weeks.

He is normally playful after a good nap, but today he has been going back lay by his water bowl. Occasionally drinking water but mostly just laying there.

His stool looked fine this morning, and he was playing well but this afternoon he’s been very low energy :(

He did have a very busy day yesterday, so could he just be really tired?? What kind of symptoms should i be looking out for?

My puppys daycare sent me this video and I noticed theres a rope wrapped around his waist. Should I ask about it?

This was my puppys 3rd time going and he’s finally opening up to playing with other pups. The daycare owner sent me this video but I noticed the green rope wrapped around his waist?? Do you think it just got tangled or are the workers tethering him?

Not sure if its something I should bring up or if its no big deal.

How do you explain to your kids why you don’t let them watch certain youtube channels?

Im very anti youtube but my kids (8 and 10) will occasionally watch some Mark Rober videos which Im okay with because they love building the crunchlabs.

They recently discovered Salish and jordan matter (thanks to netflix) and I couldnt put my finger on it but I just didn’t want my kids watching it. They asked me why and I just said they were annoying??

How do you explain to your kids why you dont want them watching certain content??

Is this crate too small for my puppy?

Pup is 14 weeks and 5lbs now. Length wise it seems fine but he cant lay down comfortably the other way (see photo 2).

Is the crate supposed to be this small or do i need to go up a size?

Is life supposed to feel like a performance? Im tired.

33 and going through a “quarter life crisis”.

I feel that I have been performing my whole life. I just realized it recently. Its hard for me to put it into words on here but its this feeling like Im never enough and I dont really know who I am or what I really want.

Like I dont know what it feels like to just EXIST and BE. I feel that I have been people pleasing my whole life, and just doing whatever I can to get people to see and like me.

I always feel like an outsider and have trouble making meaningful relationships because i truly do not know how to be present and connect with others. I feel that I am constantly observing and then mimicking that persons energy.

I am extremely blessed and I know I SHOULD be thankful for my life. I have 2 beautiful children and a loving husband. However, inside Im exhausted and feel very empty.

Anyways.. just feeling very lost at the moment. I wonder if anyone here can relate or share words of wisdom.

Do you plan your outings around your puppy’s nap?

Our 12 week old is doing great with crate training. Sleeps through the night and will mostly stay up 1-1.5 hours at a time, then sleep 1-2 hours. We dont have a hard set schedule for him because our days are so different.

I try to time it so he starts his crate/nap time right before we leave the house. But sometimes it doesnt work that way and it stresses me out.

For example, if we have to leave for a dinner around 4. But then he ends up taking a nap at 11-1, then starts getting drowsy around 2.. which means by the time we leave he will be awake/energized 😭

How are yall scheduling your plans??

Honestly so happy I went with breed. I want another one now!

He is doing soo well with crate training and he is so lovable.

Does anyone here have two havanese dogs? How long did you wait to get your second one and do they get along?

Puppy keeps peeing inside his crate when he’s left alone

I only left him alone for 1 hour yesterday and today, and he peed in his crate both times. I made sure the crate is adjusted to the right size, and i take him out before I crate him.

He is great about being crated and settling/sleeping. No whining when i close the crate door or the room, and I make an effort to let him have independent playpen time while im in a different room.

What do I need to do differently?

Is anyone going on a vacation with their puppy this summer?

Puppy is only 9 weeks right now, but he will be 16 weeks by July. I did tell the kids were not doing a big trip this year because of the puppy which they were okay with.

But now Im thinking of doing a little roadtrip to an air b&b or something with puppy. We have two kids, so we usually keep vacations pretty chill (as in we dont stay out late and we’re doing something outdoorsy/active during the day).

Is anyone planning on taking their puppy anywhere?

What to do if bedroom is far away from the family room?

We have a spacious home, and our bedroom is on the opposite end of where our family room is.

Our 9 week old havanese puppy sleeps in his crate/pen in the family room, and Ive been sleeping on the sofa just because I dont think I would be able to hear him very well from my room. Most nights he sleeps through the night but sometimes wakes up once around 2am.

I have installed a Tapo camera and I get a notification on my phone when he moves.. but he moves around in his sleep too so Im not sure if that would be helpful.

Does anyone use pee pads occasionally?

Ive been taking my 9 week old pup out to pee every hour when hes awake but I do have pee pads JUST in case.

For instance.. I need to be out for 2 hours but he has not pooped all day! Should i leave his crate open so he can be in the playpen and put a pee pad??

I would hate for him to have to poop all of a sudden and be distressed in the crate and end up soiling his space.

Ive had him for 4 days now and I cant imagine life without him

Leading up to the pick up day, I was SO anxious about raising and training a puppy. I even thought about backing out. But he is so good with crate training and is sleeping through the night!

Moved back to be closer to my parents but Im annoyed now

I HATE that i feel like this. I moved overseas with my husband and had babies in my 20’s and I was incredibly lonely. I cried many nights because I missed my parents/home. We would visit during summers and I would hate having to leave them.

Now, we live about 7 mins away from my parents , and Im secretly missing the distance we used to have. I have no idea why I feel like this. Is it because “distance makes the heart grow fonder”?

Im feeling like I might have some unresolved issues with them or something. I cant stand any of their criticism, and there are times I just get so annoyed. I think it reminds me of when I was a teenager idk.

I don’t like that my mom assumes that i want them over every time my husband is out of town. I feel terrible because my parents are lovely people and great grandparents to my children.

Can anyone relate or am I just a shitty person lol
