Battery Jump Starter Recommendations?

Hello, after reading about fellow Kona Electric owners having to occasionally use a battery jump starter on their dead/weak 12V battery, I’m now looking for some product recommendations.

I would like to get a multifunction unit that also can inflate tires, has a flashlight, and maybe even includes USB charging ports to help power small electronic devices. An ideal unit would hold its charge, be durable, small and lightweight, with a clamshell-style zippered case.

If you have one of these types of battery boosters, please tell us which model you have used – and if you would recommend, or not.

I’m in the US market, but feel free to list your own country’s devices, as it may help someone else on this subreddit.

The Motormouth Canadian couple reviewed the 2026 Kona Electric

I like watching these car reviews from this husband-and-wife team out of Vancouver. I thought they did a fair assessment of the second generation, and perhaps last, model.

Twenty busy minutes in Cary tonight with three trains

Just walking around downtown Cary close to the train station tonight and I got lucky and spotted three trains in quick succession.

8:00 PM: #76 Piedmont northbound

8:10 PM: #41 Floridian southbound

8:20 PM: Norfolk Southern eastbound

250th Anniversary Mailbox

We spotted this unique USPS collection mailbox in Colonial Williamsburg on the Fourth of July. Curious to know if anyone has noticed these around our town, yet?

Small black bear just sighted crossing Herndon Road behind Nordstrom Rack

The juvenile black bear (maybe two years old?) was headed north along Crooked Creek crossing Herndon Road near the intersection with Rossford Lane. We couldn’t get our cameras out in time, foiled again!

I finally caught a glimpse of The Brick

I thought one of the Piedmonts was sneaking up behind me in the Research Triangle Park, and I barely had enough time to stop the car and press the record button. I was shocked to discover the Norfolk Southern Research Cars 38 and 36 were rapidly headed towards Cary after passing through Durham.

Funeral train track speeds?

Can anyone tell me the traveling speed of funeral trains? Would they travel at a constant pace, or vary speeds depending on where onlookers were paying their respects? Also, has anybody ever witnessed a funeral train?

Edited to add picture info: Robert Kennedy; George Bush; Abraham Lincoln

SX2 wireless charging pad

Does the iPhone 17 Pro Max fit properly in the second generation wireless charging pad? And, does the phone’s new vapor chamber cooling design work well with the car’s charging pad, and prevent the phone from overheating?
