Hot takes

Very random but when do the hot takes go on the Nandos app? I looked on Friday at around midday and there was nothing but I‘ve seen everyone say it closed on Friday at 4:30. and when you search online it says it’ll appear the day of the match so I just wondered if there’s a next time when should I be checking the app?

one Asda

I have a question, I’m yet to find anyone who knows the answer so any insight would be appreciated! I’ve asked all the people above me in store and no one has a clue.

on one Asda there is cinema discount, you buy the ticket you want for whatever location and how many (adult, child) and that’s it. How does this work when you then go to the cinema? Do they scan it and you just go to any film? any help would be appreciated!

Vinted sellers

just wondered if anyone else’s Vinted is playing up? I uploaded a top an hour ago and it got 50 favourites already, I managed to send offers to some but now every time I click on someone who’s favourited it says there’s an error. I’ve tried on my phone, on safari and on my iPad and it’s the same on all.

as I said the top has a lot of favourites and now I can’t send offers

breaks

How long of a break for a 7 hour shift? I know for most people the answer is however long they can get away with.

I do a 10-5 shift so 7 hours i‘m over 18 and the handbook says anything over 6 hours 10 is a 30 minute break. I’ve always taken 30 and now I’m being told it should only be 15? is this right?

earring problem

I got a 4th earring piercing (idk if it has a different name) a few years ago and it was fine. about a year ago I took them out and stopped wearing them but after 6 months I tried to put them back in but it hurt a lot and would bleed instantly. I tried again with a different earring it went in fine but it hurt even more afterwards so I ended up taking them out and they were red and had pus (ew)

Yesterday so 6 months later again I put earrings in and they went in fine they hurt a little bit nothing major. They were fine for an hour but then they started hurting a lot and being irritated. I took them out this morning and both were red and had pus again (gross sorry). they feel fine since the earrings have been out they’re both just red.

should I just count the loss or should I put them in and put something on them??

pay and national insurance

I’m not sure if I’m wrong but I thought if you earn under £1048 a month you don’t pay NI?

well I earned under £1048 but £4 has been taken for NI. I know it’s not a lot but the NI % is 8% and £4 isn’t 8% of my pay so I’m confused what I’m paying? It specifically says national insurance: 4.36.

Can someone explain to me what’s happened and what I’m meant to do about this?

holiday off

I just did a post but realised I actually got the dates wrong!!

In my interview I told them I need the day after Boxing Day off as I’m not here. the 27th which is a Sunday. I was told that’s fine when I started I requested it off straight away and it was declined. my manager told me he can’t approve it because it’s the day after a bank holiday and he needs me in.

i told them in my interview I’m not here and I told them that again but it will got declined. What am I meant to do?
i checked the calendar and no one else is off

holiday pay

I’m still new to Asda so I wondered if I’d get holiday pay? At my previous job we didn’t get holiday pay until the end of the year if we worked enough hours.

I’ve been there 2 months and I recently took 2 days holiday we get paid this week so i wondered if I’d receive holiday pay? and is holiday pay the same amount as i‘d earn that day normally?

Shifts

I’m not sure if I’m being silly but I think my hours on the clock in section are wrong?

the other day I started early so I clocked in at 8:38 and I finished at 3 and had half an hour break. that means I worked a total of 6 hours and 22 minutes, with break 5 hours 52 minutes but workday says I worked 5.75 hours wouldn‘t 5.75 be 5 hours 45?

i’m not sure if I’m being silly and it’s only 7 minutes but this has been happening a lot. i worked 8:55-1 but workday says i worked 4 hours when technically I worked 4 hours 5 minutes. I’ve been told I’m allowed to clock in early too so I’m not sure what’s happening?

edit: not sure if this is relevant but it was an overtime shift and I was told I could start earlier and I’d get more money

contract hours

I’m not sure how to word this question but I hope someone understands. Are breaks part of contracted hours?

e.g if I’m contracted 18 hours is that including my break or excluding? is the 18 active work or 17 hours active work 1 hour break?
I hope someone makes sense of what I’m saying

finance plan - monthly

Not sure if this is the right thread. In 2024 I bought a laptop from a company on monthly payments. Later in 2024 I ended up unemployed for reasons I had savings so I kept up with the plan as long as possible but then I couldn’t afford it anymore. Said company emailed me about it constantly and I explained my situation they gave me a month to find a new job but I was getting rejected from everywhere. after this month they gave the payment to a debt collector I explained my situation to the debt collector they gave me a time limit of a week or two I think. I didn’t meet it but I hadn’t heard anything of them. I emailed them and they said that the debt had been taken back off them and was now with the company I got the laptop from again so if I wanted to make any payments I had to email them.

I’ll be honest I haven’t and didn’t email them as I thought they’d contact me to explain why it had been given back to them. It’s now been about a year and a half and they haven’t contacted me once since. The laptop still works perfectly fine and when I sign in it says I have an outstanding balance. I’ve checked my credit score and this payment hasn’t come up once as an impact or even a missed payment.

I understand I’m probably in the wrong here but I’m young and didn’t know what to do and thought they’d contact me. what do I do?

tax

I’m still learning about the taxes and national insurance. I earn less than the taxable amount so I don’t pay tax. I also don’t pay national insurance as I don’t earn £1048 a month.

this month I was thinking of taking extra hours but it’ll take me over the £1048 a month will I be taxed national insurance even though I don’t earn over £12570 a year?
and if I do get taxed how do I go about claiming it back?
