If there was a Bazzite/SteamOS optimized Minecraft launcher, what features would you want to see on it?

I’ve been considering starting work on a game mode focused MC launcher for my console/PC to solve a few gripes I’ve had with prism launcher. I’m planning native controller support, Steam shortcuts, and a TV-optimized layout. If you could have ANY feature in such a launcher, what else would you suggest? I’m tryna get ideas.

🎉‼️Bazzite’s kernel has JUST been updated with HDMI 2.1

https://github.com/OpenGamingCollective/linux/releases/tag/v7.2-rc7-ogc1

Not 10 minutes ago, the Bazzite’s kernel (which is maintained by the same people as Bazzite) pushed a new release based on the 7.2-RC7 kernel. This version includes native support for HDMI 2.1 as well as other new features. This is a HUGE deal for Bazzite, as this kernel version will likely be included in one of the next testing images. I think it’s safe to say that HDMI 2.1 will be implemented in the testing branch in a matter of days.

Update: boom https://github.com/ublue-os/bazzite/commit/a5897ab43e7af573e878b55b2b61108ec1681e64

So has anyone actually managed to get an .apk running with lepton?

I downloaded lepton via steam the other day and have been trying to figure out if there’s any way to actually use it. I know that it was designed for the frame and it was likely shipped prematurely in anticipation of the frame’s release, but I had wanted to know if anyone was able to get it working on a standard x64 PC?

HDMI 2.1 HAS BEEN MERGED INTO BAZZITE’S KERNEL 🎉

The merge happened a week ago, and I somehow wasn’t aware of this. There was an issue tracking the status of this that I stopped monitoring after a comment Kyle (the lead maintainer) made on discord that gave me the impression that they wanted to wait until it rolls out in the Linux 7.2 kernel. I checked today only to find out that is has been merged and will likely be usable in Bazzite very soon!!!

CEC volume control in Bazzite

Screenshots from the new Steam Machine settings show that the volume controls now utilize CEC to control the TV’s volume, rather than adjusting the computers’s output volume (which is what Bazzite-deck currently does).

Additionally, SteamOS-manger (the daemon that both SteamOS and bazzite-deck uses the expose system controls to the Steam client) has has several commits over the past few months updating it’s CEC implementation.

Just tryna raise attention on this feature as Bazzite’s fork of the daemon hasn’t been updated in months, and I would love to have this feature implemented.

Is the new leaked FSR 4.1.1 dll worth using over 4.1.0 on RDNA4?

I haven’t gotten around to testing it yet. Would anyone know if 4.1.1 has any advantages over 4.1.0 on RDNA4?

You heard it right. AMD FINALLY got permission from the HDMI forum to release an open source HDMI 2.1 implementation. It’s just HDMI FRL, but that’s the important feature that enables the higher bandwidth. This is a HUGE roadblock gone for Linux Gaming as now we can use 4k@144hz, 10 bit color, & 4:4:4 chroma all at the same time. Also he wasn’t referenced, I like to image Michał Kopeć’s successful reverse-engineering of HDMI FRL put enough pressure on the HDMI forum to finally approve it.
