Story time: So I am from a middle class Indian family. When I was in kindergarten I dreamt of pursuing a scientist career.

My parents were kinda disappointed by my choice but they didn’t stop me from pursuing it.

In 5th grade, I learnt more about scientists and their work and then I discovered “independent scientist” career

(Independent scientists means those who do research independently rather than working under an institution, in short our salary is ₹0)

I told my parents about it and this time they got really worried for my future and told me that these kind of jobs are suitable for rich people. If I will pursue it, then I’ll regret it. I knew they were right but I was really passionate in science.

So even after knowing the consequences, I went to pursue this career.

Now I am really regretting my decision to do so. Should’ve listened to my parents.
