I want a new phone and these are my 2 options. The phone needs to last until 2030. I mainly play games and search stuff up/use Reddit. Occasionally watch videos.

By the way my parents don’t like spending a lot of money on tech, and they only upgrade if they absolutely have to. Despite this, they spent $1000 on a MacBook Air. When I asked why, they didn’t say the ecosystem, they didn’t say the OS, they said the build quality.

My dad also frequently talks about how he likes Windows much better.

How can I convince them to only spend money on the things they actually need in a laptop.

EDIT: It seems you guys have misunderstood, THEY ARE NOT HAPPY OR CONTENT WITH MACOS. They think macOS is not user friendly and annoying to use.

EDIT 2: I understand that the MacBook Air is really well build for 1k. Even though they don’t travel with it and don’t really need THAT good build quality, I’ll respect the choice of wanting that good build quality. We’re gonna do some fiddling and dual boot macOS and Windows ao they can use windows with the good build quality of the MacBook. Thank you to everyone who didn’t hate on me for trying to help them.

I’ll update you guys when she responds but I have no idea how long that’ll take.

UPDATE: For everyone asking for an update, she has not responded yet.

UPDATE 2: She still hasn’t responded to my DM but she has been talking in other group chats and responding to what I‘m saying in those group chats. This may be a good thing though because we both liked each other years back and when I confessed she waited like a month or two to tell me she liked me back.
