Repainting my front doors. Started with sanding, while doing so the top coat is flaking off. It appears the top coat was a poorly applied water based paint. (I tested with rubbing alcohol and top coat did come off onto the rag)

The base is either just factory fiberglass (*edit - appears to be steel door. Some rust under the door sweep) finish, or maybe oil based? It doesn’t come off on the alcohol rag.

Original plan was to sand off whatever flakes, then prime with what I have which is Benjamin Moore Fresh Start Primer. Will this primer suffice? Or will I need a kilz or zin cover stain? Will be topping it with BM regal exterior. Thanks for the help!

Had a new switch box run in my garage, it’s a flanged box with foam gasket, how do I drywall over this? Won’t the drywall be proud by 1/8 or so now?

Working on my gutter drainage project. How does the 4” drain pipe connect to the catch basin? It slides on but not super snug. Do these connections also get pipe glue?

I am planning to burry these 3 down spouts on the side of my house with solid pvc. I will make pvc wye with cleanouts for the downspout connection.

Plan was to send each under the sidewalk and wye into a main line heading to the front of property where there is natural slope. Sound good?

How would you terminate the run? Pop up emitter with small gravel pit under? Ideas and advice welcome.

Hi all, looking for colour suggestions/advice for our exterior Doors and Trim. Should they both be the same?

We are leaning towards “Dragons Breath” by Benjamin Moore for the front, side and garage door. Should the trim be some sort of cream? Or darker?

(The doors will one day be replaced with an updated style, not on the menu for us at this time)

Hey all, first time posting here. I am looking for someone with a keen design eye to offer some colour ideas/names to paint our door and window trim (currently brown). I also would like to paint the doors a different colour.

We generally like a clean/neutral style. Inside the home we have used muted earthy tones. Our interior walls are painted Natural Cream by BM.

I’ve build garage shelving like this in the past, for totes and larger items. Would this design, but shrunken down and constructed with 2x2’s make a suitable shoe shelf on a flat wall in the garage? Any better ideas?

The wall is about 5 ft wide, no corners. Other ideas? I don’t like the look of metal shelf brackets.
