Jaguar Amps

Does anyone know anything about Jaguar Amplification? Are they still a thing?

I saw a guitarist in Charleston, SC, about 12 years ago playing one at a gig and it sounded so good, but I never see any about them and their online presence exists, but is small.

Anyone ever own one?

Theatre 99 @ 280 Meeting St

Theatre 99 @ 280 Meeting St

Folks, the days of Theatre 99 being housed at 280 Meeting St are numbered. The exact close date is unknown, but we’re probably in the final months (possibly 2-3) at this location.

Hopefully the theatre will find a new home as soon as possible. So many people in the Charleston area come here for entertainment and to take classes. If you’ve never been, you absolutely should check out this magical place.

Charleston’s home for improv comedy. Wednesdays are established house long form groups. Thursday is for up-an—coming groups. Friday and Saturday nights are kind of the flagship shows with first act short form (games) and second half long form (get a suggestion and go for a half hour). There’s also usually a clean, family-friendly show once a month.

Shows and classes will continue as the space problem is worked. Please come out and show Theatre 99 some love from the community.

Walk/Don’t Walk

Wednesday night as I was walking down Wentworth near King St I saw a woman walking down King St, two young kids in tow. The lady approached Wentworth St and the kids noticed the Don’t Walk symbol and stopped. She got annoyed at the kids and then proceeded to drag them into the street to cross. A pickup truck driver that was on Wentworth crossing King St had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting this woman, young boy, and young girl. The woman walking the kids (mother, grandmother?) did not even look up.

I share this not because it felt like an outlier of an occurrence, but rather one that was emblematic of pedestrians downtown now.

And yes—a ton of the drivers downtown now are wild and careless, so this is not a “drivers vs pedestrians“ thing.

Can we all pay a little more attention?

I have no idea what this is. Maybe a gated fuzz?

gets some pretty ripping distortion, but also weird, ring-mod like sounds when adjusting some knobs. also the light dims when adjusting certain knobs. the control sweeps feel inconsistent. but at some settings it rips. anyone seen anything like this? probably someone’s old diy pedal

This is my favorite dirt pedal of all time. What’s yours?

Manifold Drive from Resonant Electronic Design.

This is my favorite dirt pedal of all time. It can do everything from clean boost, to low gain drive, to ripping amp-like distortion, to full-on sputtering fuzz. It has an all-original circuit design. If I’m not mistaken, the guys who made this joined the Chase Bliss guys, and I think this circuit can be at least approximated by one of the CBA pedals on the right settings.

Organizing downloaded captures

My downloads folder is overflowing and I have some free time next week. I’m hoping to audition and delete a bunch of captures downloaded off the cloud, and be left with the ones I really like.

So, when making folders, what do you guys think are the best ways to organize your downloaded captures?

Bose L1 Model II question

Those of you with a Bose L1–how are you connecting the stereo outputs of a regular, non-Bose analog mixer to the L1? Right now I have everything running from the left side into an xlr to trs into the Bose. Everything panned center. Is this the way to go? Would it be any different to use a summing cable from both outputs?

Finally tried stereo with second FR12

I finally got to try a stereo setup now that I have a second FR12 with the Quad Cortex. I’m absolutely blown away by the sound. True stereo makes a night and day difference. I can’t believe I waited so many years to do a stereo rig. It’s unbelievable. And somehow it makes the amp models sound more realistic.

This week I am going to also dive into incorporating my amp for a stereo wet/dry/wet rig. These are exciting times for me! Lol

To anyone on the fence: I would definitely recommend getting a second FRFR.

Tech21 Power Engine 60

This is a piece of gear that’s flown under the radar and pairs perfectly with modelers. It might have been discontinued, but Tech21 has been around a long time so there’s a lot of used gear and they also tend to do limited runs of older gear.

The Power Engine 60 is a guitar cab with an onboard solid state power amp (with active eq).

I mean it’s essentially like running into the FX return of a solid state amp, but I’ve just always really liked mine!
