2011 2.5 Camry cold start rattle

Hey mechanic here never done chains on one of these. Want to get all the advice I can. Car runs and drives great. No codes surprisingly, because the cold start rattle sounds ridiculous. it needs a valve cover kit so I’m gonna start there and I’ve read that I can tell which or both cam gears are bad just by inspecting with the cover off. Any tips? I thought at first it was worn tensioner spring rescued by oil pressure. Curious if it’s gonna be one or both or if I should just hit em both while I’m there.

Thanks a lot

Rebuild cost/ trade in value

12.5 - 250 lbft 1/2 drive. I just picked this up for $220. One of the buttons doesn’t work and there’s some corrosion in the battery housing, I cleaned it up real good it was filthy. Apparently it was calibrated and had a handle put on last summer but it was clearly filthy and the grooves of the handle were packed with gunk

I needed a digital 1/2, got this guy down to $220 thought it was too good to pass up as I see these listed for $600+ all the time.

How much will it cost to rebuild, how much trade in value would I have for the new version that’s like 15-300 lbft 1/2? I have a dealer handy.

Traction - semi slicks or wider wheels

Hello, I’ll try to keep it short and sweet, ask questions if you need.

~3500lbs FWD street car making I bet a little over 300whp. I already have an lsd.

2006 Saab 93 aero with a gm 2.8T v6 and gm 6spd manny if you care. Upgraded bolt ons. Still small turbo full boost at about 3500rpm

Upgraded to 18x8.5 wheels. Have 245mm wide continental extreme contact sport 02s on. Thought they’d be grippy enough to eliminate spin. (I also love backroads, I’ve never even dragged the car just so you know it’s 99% street fun car I want to maximize it tho)

Stock wheels and tires I knew had to go at some point, didn’t make enough power to instinctually get semi slicks, don’t know what it takes to need slicks however. 1st gear is a very small on my setup goes to 35mph, so basically a tire shredder if I use it. I’ll spin a fair amount in 2nd and just a bit in 3rd on dry surfaces. Edit - there is no wheel hop for reference, only ever just clean wheel spin, suspension is not currently the traction limit

So the question is do you think I should get some sort of (semi) slick tire for the front? Or do I definitely need wider wheels and slicks or what. Ideally I wanna be able to get away with semi slicks I can basically daily. I recently rode in a friend of friends 700+whp turbo Camaro and I couldn’t believe how grippy these nittos were. Don’t remember what they were exactly but I think they were only like 275s nittos with grooves so not a full blown drag radial. Absolutely no spin even in 1st. No boost by gear 99% sure. I understand it’s rwd so there’s inherently more traction.

Lmk thanks, if you think I can get away with slicks give me some recs pls

Rod bearings

Hello I’m learning how to replace rod bearings, gonna pull mine, measure inspect, see if they need replaced and such while I got the pan off. Anyway if replacing the bearings when yall usually do this do you fully torque the cap down to factory spec then measure the bearing to check clearance, cause like the final torque for the cap is 18ftlbs + 110° I don’t wanna be breaking bolts in my rods just to measure clearance, idk if I gotta buy 2 sets of bolts, assuming that’s not the usual method but lmk im sure you’ll get what im sayin. If you need more info ask! Thanks!

Need advice about oopsie

I would appreciate someone with experience to share their thoughts on this situation

Long story short I got my valve covers off my car doing a bunch of work and it’s taking a lot of time been about 2&1/2 months so far outside on jackstands on pavers. Anyway cam lobes rusted in the humid exposure, I was checking the front bank only under a blanket, it was fine meanwhile a month later I check the back bank just to see and there was rust… so I cleaned it as best I could and let me know based on this aftermath if you think the cam(s) are junk, I’m fine, or what? I have a few pics of basically the worst of it. Ask any questions you need, it’s a gm turbo v6 from 06. B284E. Will be adding assy grease to prevent this.

Unfortunately I can’t add the video but you can see me with only the weight of the tool dragging a pick across the pitting and you can hear it and feel it but barely, like BARELY but it is nevertheless present. Thank you

Where can I find these

They don’t need to be this color, they don’t need to be attained in a set, they don’t have to match color I just want these exact 1/4 drive and 3/8 drive hard handle ratchets, for less than like $370 on eBay (the only place I can reliably find them) or whatever… does anyone know where to get tools like this that are discontinued I guess?

Btw why does everyone who sells snap on tools on eBay think anyone is going to be paying catalog prices or HIGHER?! Sometimes those ridiculous prices are paired with clearly heavily used tools.

Also if I needed to warranty a pearl handled tool, do dealers not offer handle replacements anymore? They would offer a new model?

Warranty missing parts?

I just got this, given. How do I go about warrantying the missing dies in this kit, I’m assuming I’ll just have to purchase them… any idea how this works or how much it’ll cost ?

Edit: I don’t mean warranty, like get for free I mean like when I bring this to my dealer what do you guess my options will be.
