X6 - One step forward, two steps back.
I have been filming my travels with Insta cameras since the X3. Since then every new model got slightly better. Higher resolution, better sensors, faster software. This is why i instantly bought the new generation which arrived one day before leaving for a 3 weeks holiday where i will film with it a lot.
One week in i'm not really happy and i wish i had brought the X5 instead. Picture quality seems to be a bit better but the overall handling is super annoying.
- No more buttons on the backside but just on the side. Wanna film a public space for your travel blog without causing to much trouble or people getting annoyed? Good luck with hat, the display will always face outside.
-Only one Quick capture button. Wanna quickly turn on the camera and choose the mode to film in at the same time? Bad luck, three buttons exist, but only one can be used for quick capture.
-The thouch screen is unusuable. Maybe some Basejumpers or someone can make use of it, i can't. The easy to reach buttons on the back are really missing.
- Quick capture turns on really fast, it tends to hang though. Ended your shot too quickly and want to record again? Good luck, the cam now needs 10 seconds pause.
-Switching modes only on the touchscreen ia horrible, see above. Lacking the seconde Quick Capture button, you want to switch to one sensor frontal in 4k? Good luck with that, the touchscreen only function wants you to press very exact ond reaaally hard to work. Good luck pressing that button blind and quickly like before.
-The software got a couple of updates as well. No more list view for clips. No more clip control directly on the keyframes. Congratulations, you have now made your software way worse.
Sorry for the sour tone, one week in i wished i had brought the X5 instead. Handling was/is a dream compared to this designer mess for people who never actually film dozens or hundreds of hours with those cams like, well, me.
