Answer key (brackets) are optional?

In the listening part some of the answers contain brackets for example: (an) apple. Is the bracketed word optional or important to get the mark?

What about paraphrasing? Instead of antiviral cream, saying topical antiviral?

ALSO: After my sample test, they said that my answers will be corrected and will show my score? How long does that take and how can i check this if i wasnt logged in?

NBME 15

Healthy adult, no medical history, no family history, not taking any meds. Everything is good. On routine exam has such labs like below. Next step? Answer: repeat cbc in 3mo. Explanation: this is Benign Familial Neutropenia (BFN). But looking at the leukocyte breakdown, both percentages are fine so how do we know if the leukocytopenia is caused by lymphocytopenia or neutropenia or both?

Labs show no anemia, normal platelets.

Leukocyte count - 2600

 Segmented neutrophils - 60%

 Eosinophils - 1%

 Lymphocytes - 35%

 Monocytes - 4%

Are ayas addressed to the prophet also apply to us mankind?

One of my favorite surahs is Al-Duha. I really love the ayat in it and it speaks to me, its words comfort me. However, when I learned the story behind it and that those ayat were meant for the prophet (pbuh), i kind of felt sad that it no longer meant for the general people. I could be mistaken here.

So, do these ayat apply to the rest of us too in some way?

Yall there should be a tutorial on how to use amboss and where to find everything popular for step 2… I am so lost there and I downloaded the amboss qbank app on my ipad to solve some questions.. its one big white screen with tiny letters. There isnt a zoom in feature? I dont even see any option to reveal the explanation 😐
I’m giving my exam in under a month.

3mo no change in scores.

FORM 10: 218 (24 march)

FORM 11: 227 (6 april)

FORM 12: 210 (23 april)

FORM 13: 215 (30 april)

FORM 14: 230 (19 june)

FORM 9: 227 (7 july)

I did 75% of UW, also went over many incorrects but not all. I studied each NBME very well, took notes memorized, understood my weaknesses in test taking strategies.
I did well speed-wise in forms 11 and 9 and coincidentally both r high relatively. Yet still not high in reality.

I did cms:
IM 10,9: 68%,78%. Latest of each: FM 74%, EM 60%, Peds 66%, Obg 82%, Surgery 66%, Psych 80%.

I am very short of time and idk what to do. I need to take my exam early august. I’ve been waiting so long to see a jump but none whatsoever. There aint much time to do anything /:

Anyone been in my shoe? Any happy stories? Advice? No discouragement please

Can someone please explain what’s the ECFMG certification?

YOG 2024 non-US IMG, I will be taking my step2 exam late this month or early aug at most. And I intend to enter MATCH 2027 for internal medicine. You apply for ECFMG certification AFTER finishing with step 1&2 and OET right?

I heard so many people saying it takes months to get the certificate?
Then how do late test takers enter the match cycle? What is the deadline to having it ready for the match?

Glance over the choices first.

As im practicing, i decided to try out glancing at the choices before reading the stem. It changed everything, because it acted like a palate cleanser. Often as you go through so many questions in exam-like condition things start to blur and overlap, you lose focus, reread and lose time. Reading the choices feels like reading a title, it sets the tone, helps you know what to expect, what to look for. After glancing at the options, read the stem from the start.
