My UF Appeal Actually Worked... Now What?

So since everyone was saying admissions were already full, and UF never gave me a reason for my rejection, I thought there was no way my appeal would work. Still, I figured it wouldn't hurt to submit one.

I honestly never expected to get accepted.

The thing is... I literally just signed a lease near UCF last week and had already been talking with their admissions office, honors program, and getting everything set up. Now I don't even know what to do. UF has always been my dream school, but... damn.

How Common Is Heartworm in Florida, Really?

My dog is already on preventives, but I wanted to hear some real-life experiences instead of just reading statistics online, as it helps make the risk feel more tangible.

Is it really true that about 1 in 4 stray dogs has heartworm?

How common or serious is heartworm in Florida?

UCF students with dogs and no car: how do you make it work?

Hi all,

Before judging me, taking my dog with me to college is a decision my family and I made together. They won't have the time to care for him, and I've been his primary caregiver since he was a puppy. I've also done a few research on this and understand the responsibilities that come with it.

That said, I won't have a car for at least a year. The apartment I'll be living in doesn't seem to have much grassy space nearby, and while I may be overlooking some options, the closest park I've found is about a 40-minute walk away.

What would you do in this situation? I want my dog to have regular access to grass and open space. Riding a scooter with a dog is risky, and as far as I know, buses only allow service animals.

Should I try to find someone with a car and a dog who already goes to parks and offer to split gas or pay for rides? Are there other options I'm not thinking of?

Thanks!

How do students without cars get around UCF?

I'm transferring to UCF soon and won't have a car. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get around for classes, groceries, errands, and taking my dog to parks/green areas.

The roads around UCF don't seem very bike-friendly in some areas since they can be pretty narrow. I'm also concerned about bike theft and maintenance.

For those of you who don't drive, what do you actually use day-to-day?

Walking?

Electric scooter?

E-bike?

Regular bike?

Shuttle/bus?

Something else?

How do you handle grocery runs, theft concerns, and transporting things around campus?

Thanks!

CS CLAS transfer Fall 2026

Has anyone who applied to the CLAS CS program heard back yet? I've heard people saying many already got their decisions, but I still haven't heard anything.
