Retro Console Repair/Restoration

Has anyone had positive experiences with any Sacramento area businesses that do retro video game system restorations they can recommend ?

I have an old Atari system (top loading bay for two cartridges, built in keyboard, 4 controller ports, and an external floppy drive) that I need to get given a proper cleaning, and possibly some restoration work. I know the keyboard might need some care because years ago when I used it, I was having to punch some keys pretty hard to get it register on screen.

A nice quote to cap off my medals

The last few weeks I've been working on getting 100% in AC6. I got 95% of the previously over the years, so figured the last 5% wouldn't be so bad. I never realized that you have to get S rank on every mission on every difficulty (except easy I believe), to get them all. So while I had a few A ranks here and there, I mostly had to get S rank on mission 13: Liberation of Gracemeria.

After going through Normal, Hard, Expert, and Ace on this mission, I finally killed enough UAV's before taking Pasternak's head. After I finally got the 2 for X amount of achievement gamer score, I was treated to the nice quote you get for working your ass off for S rank.

"Free yourself from suffering and despair, and you will be victorious.  Do this for others, and you will be a hero"

- Victor Voychek.

A very nice touch. I tip my hat to you devs.

Looking for OSHA/Cal-OSHA Shelving Requirements (if they exist)

Hi all,

I've been going back and forth with another staff member on the use of lack using the top shelves on our library shelves. Some are just above 7 foot mark, others at 8 ft.

I've advocated for not using them because in the past materials tend to fall off when we open and close the stacks the sheer weight caused the unit to wobbles and wave after being it to a stop. When this happens, the materials on the shelves shift slightly as expected. This is problematic especially when we have binders or other materials that are larger than the shelf and stick off the shelf by anywhere from 1-6 inches. I've witnessed several times of oversized materials like this falling off the tippy top shelves.

My worry aside from damaging themselves, is that they might fall on a staff member and give them a concussion. The other argument to this that by not using these top shelves we are giving up valuable shelving space that we are always short on. While I have suggested it multiple times, weeding is not an immediate option due to the nature of our materials.

So, in the interim I was looking to see if there was a regulation somewhere that dictates how materials have to be stored to be considered "safe", or not a workplace hazard to employees.

Your help is appreciated.

Struggling to find the "right" mask for me and panic attacks

So I got my CPAP machine from the VA at the start of this year. 5 months now and the longest stretch I've been able to wear a mask and get a good night's sleep is 2 days. So I'm looking for advice and help on this one. To preface this, I breathe through my mouth and night and usually wake up needing to drink water due to my mouth being dry or just generally thirsty.

I've tried the 3 mask models available:

- full face mask / the triangle that covers your nose and mouth.

- cushion/standard mask / the one that covers your mouth and has your nose rest on top/inside slightly.

- nasal pillows with head wrap to keep your mouth closed.

I've had the following problems with each mask:

- full face mask, aka the triangle of Doom - The first night I wore this it was okay and I had no problems. The second night I wore this. I woke up after a few hours feeling claustrophobic / having panic attack. Well I'm not a fan of being in super enclosed spaces, I've never considered myself to be claustrophobic. However, wearing this mask seems to cause this. I upgraded the size from a medium to a large, unfortunately, enough air leaks out by where my tear ducts are that my eyes start drying out.

- standard - The first night I wore this, I had a panic attack similar to first the above mask. I tried it again but woke up in the middle of the night with my nose being very sore. Basically it was squishing my nose and causing it to be really tender/sore. Like it was being pushed on constantly. I might look into getting a different size and see if that fixes this issue.

- nasal pillows - the first night I wore these, they worked like a charm and I thought it would be the answer to my problems. Unfortunately after the second night, I woke up after a few hours with my nose being very sore. Basically the pillows are doing the same thing to the area around my nose. Either constantly rubbing, pinching, are otherwise irritating the skin around my nose. After talking to the sleep clinic at the VA, they recommended I use Vaseline. I tried this a couple nights ago but it doesn't appear to fix the issue. The other problem I have with this mask, is it almost feels like it's pushing more air into my lungs that I need. Like almost like I'm drowning in air for lack of a better description.

I've not giving up yet, but I'm not quite sure where to go from here. The only times I can really try to use the CPAP machine now, are on non-work nights, and weekends when I don't have appointments or other commitments in the morning or early afternoon.

Any advice is appreciated.

So my wife and I went to the subject movie last Friday evening and during scenes where the backgrounds were very bright blue or white behind the character(s) on screen it really showed the video compression quality. Mainly I could see the pixels in the form of little squares all across the screen. This kept breaking me out of my experience every few minutes for the first half of the movie until it moves on to darker scenes. But even then when there were particular large chunks that were bright to due characters using various magical abilities was still visible, but not as bad.

I couldn't help but feel Crunchyroll sent a video that was too compressed or low quality to the theater. Did anyone else have this experience?

I put my pre-order in for this vinyl back in November and still haven't gotten it yet. I reached out to support 2 weeks after the March 30, 2026 release date (now listed on the product page as "backorder expected release date") had passed. Their support said it is on backorder as they have not received the item from the vendor due to "manufacturing or international shipping delays".

Everywhere else I look online it's listed as sold out or for backorder only. Only one other site lists it with a release date of May 15, 2026. I'm guessing it's sitting on a ship somewhere or still waiting to be pressed. But figured I'd ask here to see if anyone here has received their copy.
