We’re making this post to address an issue brought to our attention regarding unsolicited DMs sent to members of our community.

This is meant to be a safe, comfortable, and welcoming space for people to connect and make platonic friendships, whether that’s participating in group threads or attending public events. To keep it that way, we want to make our stance on personal outreach explicit:

Group Interest =/= 1:1 Interest: Replying to a thread about a group event or general community activity is not an invitation for private, 1:1 messaging or personal date requests.

Respect Explicit Consent: Please do not send private messages to members asking to meet up one-on-one unless they have explicitly posted or indicated that they are seeking 1:1 connections.

Zero Tolerance for Harassment: Using this community to unwantedly hit on members or push boundaries makes people feel uncomfortable and unsafe. That goes against everything this space is built for.

What to do if you receive unwanted messages:

1. Report & Block: Use Reddit's built-in feature to report the DM for harassment and block the user.

2. Contact Modmail: If someone from this community is persistently sending you unsolicited messages, please reach out to us via Modmail with screenshots.

Members who violate these boundary guidelines or engage in unwanted outreach risk a temporary or permanent ban from the subreddit.

Unfortunately it won’t be an uncapped event like last week where 30 people showed up, so if I can’t accommodate you this time and there’s enough interest, we can find another night to do it :)

Asked if he would like to come to group event and his reply was “Depends what you look like” and when I said that I thought he was looking to make friends, he said “lmao”

Called him out on his post today and he blocked 🤔

Second part of my post, it makes it so much harder for everyone else here when you’re scaring off (especially females) people that post on here. Don’t be sending DMs and asking if people are singIe and be weird.

This is from personal experience of meeting and talking to some of them. Multiple girls have said to me they would never meet a guy 1-1 or even in groups.

A lot has said they only come to my group events because I clearly state on the post that I’m 9ay.

There are so many other subreddits you can use for the hope of hooking up/dat1ng, this is not one of them.

Again, I ask that you don’t ruin it for everyone else, because I know there are genuine people on here who do actually want to make friends.

Sorry for the rant. 😭 I’m having one of those nights.

Thank you again to everyone who came and also the people who messaged me saying they were interested. We had 9 people show up and we had drinks, laughs and conversations.

Looking forward to the next one, which has changed from Thursday 9th to Friday 10th so we can let loose a little not worry about having to work the next day. Let me know if you’re interested. It’ll probably start around 6pm in the city (somewhere near town hall probably) but people can feel free to drop by and leave as they please :)

If you’re wondering what kind of people show up to these group hangs, everyone was super friendly and open. We were all chatting to each other, we had drinks and laughs and finished it off with having dinner at Henrietta’s.

A few people have expressed interests. Both M/F, str8/not str8. So if you’re chill and open minded and wanna meet new people in the hopes of making some genuine friendships, send me a DM or drop a comment here.
