New Podcast Amplifies LGBTQ+ Armenian Voices

A new video podcast series dedicated to the experiences, stories, and mental health journeys of LGBTQ+ Armenians is launching this month with the goal of breaking stigma, increasing visibility, and fostering community connection.

The series is sponsored by the L.A. County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) as part of ongoing efforts to increase awareness of culturally sensitive mental health resources and reduce barriers to care in underserved communities.

Groundbreaking for BRT

I can’t stand Ara Najarian, but I’ll give him credit where it’s due. The County voted for the North Hollywood–Pasadena BRT line, and he’s right to tell NIMBYs to get bent.

>”Leadership means pushing forward against naysayers, NIMBYs, and ignorant city officials – both in our city and next door,” Councilmember Najarian continued, noting that the public vote was overwhelming for the half cent sales tax: Measure R passed in 2008 by 67.93% and in 2016 Measure M passed by 71%. “This is what the voters of LA County asked for and Metro respects those votes, those wishes and desires and financial sacrifices that the people of LA County demanded. Metro will not shirk or ignore that responsibility.”

2026 Glendale Pride in the Park

Glendale’s annual Pride picnic was today, and our first openly LGBT+ public official-elect, Alek Bartrosouf, was in attendance. There’s still room for growth, but we’ve come a long way since the 2023 GUSD riot.

I’m so happy to have a local community.

Standing still while Europe moves

Every year, ILGA-Europe publishes its Rainbow Map, a ranking of 49 European countries on their legal and policy frameworks for LGBTI people, scored from 0 to 100 percent. The 2026 edition, released today, tells what its authors describe as two stories at once: one of political courage, and one of real and growing danger. For Armenia, it tells neither. It tells a story of standstill.

Here’s City Council candidate Patrick Murphy’s stance on our neighbors being abducted by federal jackboots. Please don’t fall for the MAGA candidates’ efforts to portray themselves as “moderate.”
