Cold and flu season

Anyone else nervous that cold and flu season is coming up? I have specific antigen deficiency and can’t fight off respiratory illnesses. I can get sick from one of my kids and get better and then get sick again right away with the same cold/flu from another kid. I teach young children and have kids myself, so I’m exposed constantly.

I basically spent September through January sick last year which is why I finally went to an immunologist and got testing done. After a long fight with insurance denials I started SCIG two months ago. I just did my fourth infusion yesterday.

I’m struggling with the side effects and how things seem to get so much worse before they get better. The fatigue is out of control and I’ve been feeling so restless it keeps me from sleeping. Basically I have that “coming down with the flu” feeling 24/7. The heat intolerance is severe as well.

How has cold and flu season been for you all after getting these infusions? Also how long was it before you started feeling a relief from your symptoms or at least stopped feeling worse than you did before?

I’m so ready to have a working immune system!

I need help with my vanity area

I have a little vanity area in my bedroom and I love using it to get ready for my day.

I recently organized my closet and bags and fished out all random lip products that were in my purses. As a result, I now have way too much to fit in my current set up!

On the left I have a beauty blender holder, sunscreens, primers, and setting spray. In the drawers underneath I have powders and blushes in the top drawer and eyeshadow palettes on the bottom.

Next to that I have a two drawer box with a small jewelry case with just my earrings along with my contact case. The top drawer lashes and glue and the bottom has eyeliners and eyeshadow sticks.

The tiered organizer next to that has most of my brushes, my foundations and concealers, and my lip pencils and favorite lip products.

The spinny thing on the right has my least used brushes, my mascara and lash curler and the lip products I reach for less frequently.

On the far right, I have a jewelry tree, a cup with my tweezers, scissors, dermaplaner, and nail files. I also have some perfume and hand lotion and Vaseline for easy access.

The unhomed products are more lip glosses, some more foundation and some liquid contour and blushes.

I’m very out of sight out of mind. If I can’t see it, it doesn’t exist. I feel bad tossing stuff out though. I definitely don’t need all those lip glosses!

How would you rework things? Should I get another container? I’d love any ideas!

Long slow taper while in pain management

I could really use some help. I’m in pain management after a spinal fusion but the pain is better controlled now and I’m ready to get off all the meds. I’ve been tapering down for a couple of months but the withdrawals with each drop in medication are awful. I started using some 7oh (40mg) to help me sleep. Now buying 7oh is illegal in my state so what I have is all I’m going to get.

My question is how to best use this when tapering off of oxycodone with a drs help. It will be over the course of a couple of months. Can I use sr for a short time during the beginning of each of my tapers to get used to the drop in medication? I do not seem to be able to tolerate withdrawal at all.

I got 4g of sr17018 and I’d love to know if that is enough to get through this. I’d love any help coming up with a game plan. Thanks.

Looking to replace kitchen floor

I have a large dog and four teenaged sons. We moved into a house with ceramic tile in the kitchen and it has cracked in so many places from dropping cans or dishes. I’m wondering if there is a more durable option. I was looking into LVP because it seems to be more flexible which might help with this issue. I’ve only had this ceramic and hardwood in the past so I’m unsure what the best option would be.

Thanks for any input!

Fix for crashing app

Like everybody else, my app kept crashing when doing crosswords. I reached out to NYT and they asked what system I was using and what version of the app. I use iOS and I have the latest version of the app.

They told me to-
Restart the NYT Games app.
Log out of your account, then log back in.
Uninstall and reinstall the app.

I did that thinking no way would it help anything but it did work for me so I thought I’d share in case.

How to style a long jean skirt

I recently got this skirt from Quince and I’m unsure the best way to style it. So far I’ve only worn it with a tshirt and sneakers. Any suggestions?

Do these work for me? What to wear with them?

Scuze the mess, I was cleaning out my closet and got distracted by a delivery from a new store I was checking out called Natural Life. I love clothes with a boho flair.

I got several of these long “hippie” skirts. What would I wear with them? It feels weird to tuck a shirt in, but untucked looks odd too.

I’m unsure about this top. I loved it on the model but it feels maybe too unstructured for me? What would you wear with a top like this? I have on some linen pants from Quince in the photo, but maybe something a bit more fitted would work better.
I’m usually a size 12 and these items are in large.

Who is my doppleganger?

I’m so curious!

ETA - thank you everybody for the suggestions! There’s a lot I haven’t heard of but I’m looking up each one. The only one here I’ve ever gotten in real life is the Pink Ranger Amy Jo Johnson and that’s when I was a brunette teen in the 90s.

In real life, I’ve only heard Jennifer Garner and Sarah Jessica Parker (when my hair is worn curly mostly). It’s nice to have some others!

Tapering off oxycodone in pain management

Hi, I just heard about Sr and I have so many questions! I have nerve pain and had a spinal fusion last year. I’ve been on oxycodone/oxycontin for a couple of years. My goal is to switch to low dose naltrexone for anti inflammation. I’ve been tapering off the oxy with my drs help but the drops have been rough. I had some kratom and 7oh from before I was able to start the oxy and I ended up taking some at night to help with breakthrough pain. I’ve been taking my oxy during the day and a 40mg 7oh every night for a month or two now.

I’d love to be able to get off all this so I can switch to the ldn.

Oh and my state just banned 7oh as of June 1st so I won’t be buying any more.

How would I be able to figure all this out? I feel like I put myself into a bind supplementing with the 7oh. They don’t test for it at my pain management clinic.

Thanks for any help.

MCAS and Cromolyn

I was recently diagnosed with MCAS and started taking Cromolyn three times a day. I haven’t noticed too much of effect for my other symptoms but omg the creepy crawly restless legs feeling I have all over my body (but especially in my legs) has gotten so much better! I’m unsure what has happened but I’m so relieved.

Just curious if this has happened to anyone else.

Hello, I recently purchased Maybelline fit me matte and poreless foundation and I liked the formula but shade creamy beige 122 was too warm and dark for my cool to neutral light medium skin. In cover girl products, the shade creamy natural is a perfect fit. The find me foundation tool suggested the creamy beige so I’d love to hear some real life opinions or see some swatches.

One shade lighter are the ivory shades and I’ve never had anything named ivory not be too light for me.

I’ll include a pic of the day I wore it out and didn’t realize til I took a selfie how yellow it looked on me! You can see my actual skin color on my neck and chest. I’m 45 and I do have melasma so that could be affecting things as well.

Any ideas? Thanks!
