I made a PV for my digital card game.

I'm making a deckbuilding roguelike where you play as an employee at a trading card game company, releasing card packs and battling dissatisfied players.

I finally finished a proper promotional video for it.

I'm not an expert on making trailers, so I structured it like this:

- First, opening card packs to showcase the artwork.
- Then, introducing the game's core systems.
- Finally, ending with the main attraction: TCG-inspired card battles.

I'd love to hear what you think about the pacing, structure, or anything else that stands out.

I turned card pack construction into a gameplay mechanic in my game

My game includes a system where you play as an employee of a card company, planning and releasing card packs.

However, I felt that letting players spend too much time directly designing individual cards would actually hurt the fun of the game.

Instead, I chose a system where players combine pre-made 5-card sets.

As a card game developer, what do you think about this indirect way of representing the card game release process inside the game?

I've added Power Rangers-inspired cards to my game, TCG Banlist Simulator.

Hello! I just discovered this subreddit and this is my first post here.

I'm currently developing a game called TCG Banlist Simulator.

In this game, you play as the balance director of a trading card game.

You'll adjust the game's balance,
buy and sell cards as their market prices fluctuate,
and defeat angry players who come to complain by challenging them to card duels.

I recently added a Power Rangers-style special victory mechanic to this game.

Ever since Exodia in Yu-Gi-Oh!, “assemble all pieces to win” mechanics have appeared in many card games.

I always felt sentai combining robots had a very similar structure, so I designed a deck around that idea.

Right now, the Red member activates the special victory effect while the other four members provide the hand resources, stats, and cost support needed to assemble it.

What was the most rewarding experience you had while creating a homemade TCG?

Hello, I’m a developer working on a digital card game and have been active in this community.

Reaching the point where you create a homemade TCG and see players actually play it together is very difficult, but also very rewarding.

I’m working toward that kind of experience myself, but as development is taking longer than expected, I wanted to hear your stories and feel some of that energy.

Any kind of story is welcome. For example, I’m curious about things like:

- The moment you first playtested with real players

- When players understood your game’s mechanics

- Solving a major design problem

- Completing production or printing

- Unexpected player reactions

What was the most rewarding experience you had while creating a homemade TCG?

What do you think about adding parody versions of the Power Nine to a game?

Hello, I am a developer working on a game called “TCG Banlist Simulator.”

In this game, you take on the role of a card game balance director and defeat players enraged by balance issues through card battles.

Since it features a meta concept, it also includes parody elements based on real-world TCGs.

Recently, Cards parodying the legendary blue Power Nine cards and The Jace from Magic: The Gathering have been added.

They have powerful effects reminiscent of the originals, but with a gimmick that only activates when Hourglass of Time is on the field.

----------------------

The currently implemented effects of each card are as follows.

Hourglass of Time
After Attack : Deals 1 damage to itself.

Time Recall
On Summon : If % is on the field, draws 3 cards from the Deck. If not, adds 1 Hourglass of Time to Hand.

Blue Lotus Ring
On Summon : Maximum energy +X (the number of ally Hourglass of Time on the field)

Time Walk
Deathrattle : If Hourglass of Time is on the field, Freezes all enemy units.

Time Sculptor
On Summon : Banishes the top 3X cards of the opponent's Deck. (the number of ally Hourglass of Time on the field × 3)

I added cards parodying Un-set cards to my game.

I’m currently adding parody cards inspired by MTG’s Un-set cards into my deckbuilding roguelike,
TCG Banlist Simulator.

You play as the balance director of a card game company, fighting angry players through card battles while trying to keep the company alive.

Some of these parody cards interact with “Assets,” a run-wide company resource outside of battle.
If Assets reach 0, the run immediately ends.

The two main cards shown in the video are:

-Torn Card Orb
On Summon : Destroys adjacent units each with a 50% chance.
Assets +5X (destroyed ally units × 5)

-Booster Pack
On Summon : By consuming 15 assets, opens a random booster pack and adds it to Hand.
Changes those cards to Normal element.

The game is still in active development.

Hi, I’m working on a digital game called <TCG Banlist Simulator>

I recently added a boss leader card for a PvE fight and made an animation for it.

Right now the effect is:

On Summon: If there are 5 or more Mixed cards in the Graveyard,
all cards in the opponent’s Deck become Silenced.
Changes all cards in the Graveyard to Mixed element.

“Silenced” means the card’s effects can’t activate at all.

When I’m designing hundreds of cards I end up exploring some risky ideas, and this felt like one of them.

Do you think a mechanic like this is healthy for the game?

It doesn’t affect cards already in hand, and stats are still intact, so you can still trade using raw stats.

I found this community recently and have been browsing posts for about a month.

I’ve seen a lot of homemade TCG cards, rulebooks, and feedback posts.

But weirdly, I don’t think I’ve seen a single gameplay video of an offline homemade game.

I watched a YouTube video today about why indie TCG gameplay videos are rare, but I still don’t really get it.

If it’s a homemade TCG, I feel like people could just record themselves playing and explaining the rules, even without worrying too much about video quality.

I’ve come across a bunch of card games here, but honestly I haven’t really understood the rules for most of them.

Maybe I just missed those posts, or is there some other reason?

If you have gameplay videos of a game you’re working on or an indie TCG you like, feel free to drop them in the comments.
