Need advice on how to sustain this

I have both reactive hypo and fasting hypo. I feel like I'm rescuing my sugars all day. I eat 5-6 small meals every 3 hours because I'll be hypo by the 3rd hour. I'll dip low at 3-4am at night despite a bedtime snack and I'll rescue it with another mini meal, and in the morning I'm low again.

For those advising that they've managed to put a stop to this by eating low carb, how do you manage to do that? If I eat low carb, I don't spike much and I'm hypo by the 2nd hour, not 3rd hour. And after dinner, I'll have to bring forward my bedtime snack or have 2 bedtime snacks. I would really love to follow all the advice you guys have.

also advice on low carb meals and snacks that can somehow NOT cause a hypo would be appreciated. So far, I seem to have to eat more carbs rather than less :(

Failed OGTT postpartum although I had perfect sugars during pregnancy.

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with the following results:
Fasting 92mg/dl (some places have higher cut-offs of 95/100 but my clinic was 91)

1h and 2h OGTT was normal at 140 and 94 respectively.

I practically never spiked during the entire pregnancy after diagnosis. My OB didn't even bother with my sugar diary after 2 visits, although I continued to monitor.

Of course, I expected to pass my 2h OGTT postpartum with flying colours.

it's 6 weeks postpartum and my fasting was extremely low at 41mg/dl. and 2h OGTT was a whopping 272mg/dl

I was still happily thinking that I was over this. I didn't expect something in the diabetic range!

I'm of a normal BMI, and I worked out actively before and during pregnancy. took a break only postpartum. currently 5'1 and 112lbs

HbA1cs when I was pregnancy were in the range of 5.4 initially and 5.1 subsequently

I've outlined steps to take i.e. probably request for metformin, start my exercise regime now (since it's 6 weeks postpartum and I just got the go-ahead), continue low carbs, high protein diet, take regular small meals.

I need some support and pep talk :(

Does falling asleep while pumping affect letdown?

I've taken to sleeping with my head on a pillow on a table while attached to my spectra S1+ at night. supply appears stable though I'm only 5 weeks postpartum so I can't tell if it's meant to be like that or my letdown is affected because I'm sleeping. what have experienced pumping moms on this sub noticed?

Fit check Konny flex airmesh

Finally using this carrier that I got for my first born 3 years ago!
Now a month post-partum, baby is 9.5lbs.
I’m not sure about the head support especially when she hyperextends her neck when she sleeps.

Pitcher method

Those using the pitcher method, is it really a pitcher with a spout sitting in a fridge, or just a regular container? I'm wondering if it's safe for the milk to be exposed to all the other bacteria in the fridge, since the spout makes it not enclosed. Thank you!

shallow latching changed sides!

My LO is currently 2 weeks old. a week ago I was really struggling with nursing from my right breast. vasospasm, nipple blanching, lipstick nipple after the session, plus a huge aversion to earth mama nipple butter. thankfully my LO seemed okay with lanolin cream. She had no issues with the left breast and I stuck with that for a while, to give my right nipple some time to heal because at one point it cracked and bled. I continued pumping both sides. However, this week, from about 4 days ago, the tides have turned and she's now shallow on the left and having a proper, painless latch on the right! I'm dying each time she latches on the left and it's lightning pain throughout the session. I've now decided to give it a break for the past few feedings, while still pumping. Pumping doesn't bring about any pain. I've tried different holds like football holds but it's still shallow on the left with the lightning pains. I'm doing the usual methods to get a deeper latch - nipple to nose, holding breast like a burger, some hand expressions prior. what gives and how can I fix this? I'm doing triple feeding when I sense that she hasn't got enough, and her diaper counts are good, but I do hope to transit to EBF in future.

Graduation as someone with a borderline fasting result!

I was diagnosed with a borderline fasting result and normal 1-2h OGTT results at 27 weeks.
Fasting 5.1 (which I understand is regarded as normal in some countries)

1h 7.0

2h 5.0

My journey with GDM is a bit unique as while I went through dietitian visits, had closer monitoring, finger pricks, and also had to have my blood sugar monitored right up till delivery, I never spiked. I never managed to get a fasting remotely close to 5.1 in all my finger pricks, and I ranged from 3.8 to 4.4 on most mornings. 2h after meals, I was often lower than the expected range (I was usually 4.5 to 5.5) and when I had something especially carb-y, it would be 6.0 at most. My dr basically never bothered asking about my sugars after 2 visits. I still stuck with a GDM diet for the most part and continued exercising, but never bothered with anything extra like bedtime snacks or walking after meals.

While in labour my blood sugars were normal as well. However, my baby was born with low blood sugar. just slightly low. It makes me wonder whether there are many babies out there born with low blood sugar but they're simply not known because they didn't require monitoring. In any case, as I couldn't express any colostrum, I opted for formula to get my baby's sugar back up and all was well. Baby's blood sugars were fine for the rest of the hospital stay but it's so sad to see her receiving pricks just because I had a GDM diagnosis.

In the week after delivery, I've been monitoring my blood sugar out of curiosity. My fasting glucose is actually higher than during pregnancy - it now ranges between 4.7 to 5.2! I'll probably have to give time for my hormones to stabilise, and I also recognise the fact that I'm still losing blood. I guess the cut-offs are higher post-pregnancy, but being close to the pre-diabetic range of 5.6 and up does scare me a little. My 2h readings are lower though, despite letting loose with all the sweets/cookies/chips/white bread etc.

Just sharing that despite good control, low blood sugar in newborn can still happen, and fasting glucose can be higher after!

Baby does not suckle unless there's a letdown

Any mamas dealing/dealt with this and can offer any tips? My newborn wants a letdown immediately after latching and gets frustrated and unlatches. If I hand express some milk beforehand, she will simply lick with a very shallow latch to get whatever was expressed. My letdown will eventually come (I'm estimating about 45s), so that's after she latches (with me placing her back repeatedly) and unlatches about 10 times before eventually suckling.

After the flow slows down, this happens again, or she would fall asleep at the breast without suckling and I'll have to keep waking her up.

I've tried hand massage, warming pads, but since the letdown still isn't immediate (and I don't expect it to be), this crazy latching/unlatching pattern (with her crying in frustration) keeps happening! I can't possibly pump in the middle of a feed to trigger the letdown since just placing her back on 10 times is also faster, but it's driving me nuts.
