New Chronomat B31 40mm vs the older 40mm. Old design wins for me.

I was in Zurich for the day and found an AD who had the new B31 Chronomat in stock. This is a watch I was waiting to be released before I would decide on which reference to purchase. The new B31 is super slim, the micro adjust was amazing (2mm on each side of the butterfly), and the see-through caseback was nice..but the redesign of the case took away its integrated look for me. I also thought the dials seemed a little dull compared to the older reference. Thought this might be helpful to some of you in the same conundrum. I added photos of both so you be the judge.

Picked up a Santos Dumont in Geneva. Who’s got strap suggestions? Looking for some casual options.

Loving this watch so far. Thanks for the help from all of you who gave me suggestions. The Santos De Cartier just didn’t fit me, medium or large. I could’ve pulled off the Large but it didn’t feel Cartier-ish to me, and the medium was just too small. The XL Dumont fit right in the middle of those which seemed perfect for me. I was lucky to sneak it in before the price increase too!

Looking for feedback on the Superocean 42 on the rubber strap.

I’m on vacation in the French Riviera and wanted to pick up a watch for the occasion. This reference has been on my list for a while as I’ve always wanted a diver on rubber with some rose gold (and don’t like the yachtmaster enough to pay 30k lol).

I was surprised at how well this fit. It fit closer to a 40 mm with the short curved lugs, which is my ideal size. I also love that the rubber strap is fitted and has microadjust similar to my submariner. The white and the rose gold definitely add a nice pop.

The AD is willing to work with me and I’d be about $7200 out of pocket all said and done (VAT discounts, AD discount etc). The cheapest I see them on is Joma, with no warranty and after taxes is about $6,200 shipped to me. I’m thinking this is a pretty fair deal and it gives me a nice keepsake to remember the trip, and I get the warranty and a full set. I know these can be bought used for very cheap sometimes, but not seeing any at the moment and even eBay options put me above 6k. Let me know your thoughts!

Going to be making this decision at the boutique next week, and wanted to see if anyone has went through this decision recently. The Santos de Cartier Large was too oversized, but the medium was way too small. From what I read, the Dumont Large fits like a 38 mm right in the middle which would be perfect. I don’t plan on looking at the Tank Large because it just seems too undersized for my 7.25” wrist, just like the Dumont XL seems too oversized. Hoping to find the happy medium. I love the look of both, and it’ll be the only dress watch out of my entire collection. The Tank having a mechanical movement as opposed to the quartz doesn’t really matter to me, considering all my other watches are mechanical. Anyone else make a decision between these two recently? What’s your vote?

No matter how many of them I see, my No Date Sub still gets me to stare at it every time I wear it. There’s something about the sharpness and contrast from the brushed stainless to the gloss black ceramic.

I’ve had the Ingenieur on my list for awhile and went in to an AD to try one on over the weekend. I was planning on eventually buying the blue dial which would fit into my collection perfectly but all they had was the white/silver dial so that’s what I tried on and wow did it steal the show. I don’t need a white dial watch at all considering I have a white dial Speedmaster that I really like, but sometimes you just have to go with what you grabs you. I found a deal on one and ordered it tonight which will make it my 3rd IWC out of my modest 8 watch collection. It’s surprising how much more their design language speaks to me than all of the other luxury and heritage brands nowadays. IWC’s designs seem to always hit with me in recent years and I hope they keep it up! (Although my bank account doesn’t agree 💸😭)

Im between these 2 models: SOH 42 B31 Black/Rose Gold on Rubber or a Chronomat 40 GMT. They both fit into my collection pretty well as I have nothing like them. Which one gets your vote?

Also, anyone know of any ADs over there that offer any type of discount? I’ll be in Geneva, Biel/Bienne, Bern, Zurich and everywhere in between. Thanks for any info!
