Cut scenes on Halo Campaign Evolved not showing

Having played it through on Normal (Xbox Series S), am replaying on Heroic. About 2/3 of the way through the game, the cut scenes stopped showing. The audio is fine, and the closed captions still appear. After the cut scene ends, gameplay resumes as normal.

I'm the only user of the Xbox. No video settings have been changed: graphics mode is set to Performance and cannot be altered.

Any ideas?

Alternative to Pink Lady apples

Am habituated to buying Pink Lady apples whenever I'm in Asda or Aldi, but 6 for £2.87 in Asda today just seems so steep.

I love the fresh, crisp taste, so what's the best frugal alternative?

Podcast episode added and played automatically with settings disabled

Pocket Casts on my Android phone is subscribed to a daily podcast (BBC Newscast) whose Auto-download and Add to Up Next settings are both disabled and whose Auto-archive setting is enabled with an Episode Limit of "1 most recent episode".

Every month or so, Pocket Casts will download an episode and add it to the Up Next queue.

There are quite a few other podcasts with the same settings, yet only this one has this behaviour.

Is anyone else seeing anything similar? Thanks

Jarrold Pathfinder route impassable

We just did one of the routes in the (typically excellent) Pathfinder guides, but had to abort the walk where the path along a river became impassable due to thick undergrowth. A nearby commercial works meant there no easy way around, forcing us to backtrack entirely. (If I was alone, I'd have forged on to confirm whether or not the path still existed underneath the vegetation.)

Is it our responsibility, as members of the public, to keep a public path passable, is it council responsibility, or should I just write to the guide and advise them to update the route for the next edition?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Footwear recommendations

Am looking for suggestions or recommendations for both hiking and cycling (cleated) footwear. Would prefer to buy wide toe box versions of both, but suspect that's likely less available for cyclists.

Thank you in advance.

Poppy advice sought

My partner has desperately wanted poppies in her garden for years, but we're unsure how to go about growing them. We're seeing dozens in neighbouring gardens and along the pavements in the last few days.

Is it a case of

  • wait for the seed heads to appear
  • cut them off
  • let them dry
  • scatter them in her garden... when? And is it best done after rain?

Thanks for any pointers.

Treadmill lubricant on sofa

I left a bottle of JTX treadmill lubricant on its side, and some has leaked onto the sofa. Not sure if it contains silicon, and that page doesn't indicate.

IIRC the sofa had Scotchguard or similar. Applied kitchen roll under pressure, and the picture shows what remains. Would appreciate any guidance. Thanks!

I missed the second half of the first session of the final. Does anyone know how long we'll have to wait before it's available on the BBC iPlayer?

At present, the most recent event available under Categories > Sport is Yize vs Allen from yesterday. Thanks!

Edit: correction

We have Markdown-based documentation in OneDrive and Google Drive, which is easily edited on a PC from either Notepad++ or Visual Studio Code.

On my Samsung Galaxy S22+ I've tried several apps to achieve the same effect, but haven't found one that universally works well. Some won't save correctly, and some ask to convert the file format to something else first.

Is there a straightforward text editor that can accomplish this? One that would also successfully handle Offline files and offer Preview mode would be good, but those are bonuses. Thanks!

Why does switching from one app to another cause the text typed into the first app to disappear? (Samsung Galaxy S22+ phone.)

I'll sometimes type a Reddit post in the Android app and want to check the spelling of a word. Switching to the browser to confirm, returning to the original app, the previously typed content has been cleared.

Does Android employ a form of aggressive caching, or have the app developers failed to do something that causes page state to be lost?

Thanks for any insight!
