Bullied for growing his hair, this 11-year-old refused to cut it because he wanted to donate it to children with cancer
11-year-old Jacob McPeake decided to grow his hair for a very personal reason. He wanted to donate it to the Little Princess Trust, in memory of three of his grandparents who had died from cancer.
But as Jacob's hair grew longer, so did the teasing at school. He was bullied and received hurtful comments about his appearance, to the point where he considered cutting his hair and giving up.
Instead, he decided to keep going.
Jacob eventually received an encouraging message from professional rugby player Guy Thompson, who had also grown his hair to donate to the Little Princess Trust. He reminded Jacob that having long hair didn't make him any less of a rugby player or a person, and that continuing despite the bullying showed real strength and kindness.
Jacob didn't give up.
When he finally had his hair cut, he donated an incredible 18 inches to the charity. He also raised £1,230 to help the Little Princess Trust provide wigs for children and young people who had lost their hair through cancer treatment.
What started as something he was bullied for became something that could help another child feel confident again.
