I feel guilty that I can't attend examinations because I'm sick

2nd year chem college student, midterms was this week. And as usual in our universities, and I assume in others as well, a lot of exams were done last week. I was recently diagnosed with chronic sinusitis 2 weeks ago, with symptoms I had already been fighting against for nearly 2 months without medication. It got bad enough to a point I was bed-ridden and stayed away from school for a whole week right before midterm examination week. I missed 6 long examinations, 4 quizzes, laboratory work, and other school requirements.

I did get slightly better, although not fully recovered (which won't happen until a few weeks) due to the medication but since it was midterms this week, beyond my better judgement, I scheduled all my missed outputs (exams, quizzes, work, etc) this week alongside midterm examinations. Starting saturday the most sleep I've gotten was 3 hours, with at one point I didn't sleep for 2 days. This is very typical with our examination period, despite the fact I had already studied beforehand. And after all that yesterday my body finally couldn't handle it. I threw up 5 times and the symptoms came back.

I wasn't able to attend today, and I don't believe I can attend tomorrow even if I wanted to. I can't help but feel guilty because, not only have I always been used to just powering through sickness, but I'm terrified of what my professors and instructors will think. I've already excused myself from their exams once, now I have to do it again.

How do I (19M) make it so I don't look blank and unemotional when say I love you to my partner (19M)?

We've been together for over 3 years. I had a very complicated relationship with my parents growing up which made me see the words "I love you" in a negative light. I've also just always been horrible at displaying how I feel, lots of people think I look pissed or uninterested when in all actuality I'm delighted.

When I was younger, I had the tendency to "mimic" people's facial expressions because I noticed how much people were unnerved by my lack of. I don't do it as much now though, especially not around people I'm familiar or comfortable with.

He says I love you to his parents, my friends say it to me as well and to each other which I found really odd at first. I usually show my love through acts of service or gift giving, I make copper roses, I write him letters, draw him portraits, we cook together, and do other activities.

For him, he shows love by spending his time with me and is more affectionate with his words. He says "I love you" often, I always say it back when he does. I have gotten better at saying it without feeling uncomfortable, mostly because he has turned the word into something positive and something I look forward to hearing, I just look completely unemotional or disconnected every time I say it (At least that's what my friends say). He knows I'm like this, he says it doesn't bother him and understands where I'm coming from.

I also recently found out I'm autistic (both of us are), not sure if it has anything to do with that but I guess that adds a little extra layer.

Even still, I'd still like to get better at not looking like an unemotional blank person each time I try showing verbal affection. I love when we say "I love you" to each other, I just don't know how to outwardly express that I am delighted by it.

Is it still worth it to get a diagnosis?

I've (19M) always suspected I may have autism or ADHD. My mother has autism and my father has ADHD. My brother also had ASD.

I'm not old by any means obviously, and at any age of course you can get a diagnosis. I'm just thinking if it's still worth it for me?

My parents never bothered to diagnose me because in all aspects of my academic life I seemed to "prosper"

I was also left with undiagnosed dyslexia all my life, no one really thought I could ever have it because oh wow I was such a "gifted kid." I figured out how to deal with it myself, and although I still struggle at times I've learned to push through it. I got formally diagnosed with dyslexia 2 years ago, I mostly did it out of curiosity since I was there for a different reason.

Other than genuinely feeling validated, it hasn't really done much for me in terms of practicality.

I'm sort of in between if it's still worth it for me to get diagnosed. I wanted to hear your thoughts on how being diagnosed has helped you.

I'm from the Philippines if that changes anything

Rapists should not be given a second chance

I can't believe this needs to be said.

I (19M) was raped by 2 electrical men when I was 4 years old. Regardless if you believe people, who made the active choice to violate someone, let alone a child, can still "change." They should not be given ANY CHANCE at all. They SHOULD NOT BE RELEASED from prison ever. If that person was rightfully found guilty of the crime then point blank they must never be released again, because more often than not they will repeat again.

These perverted rapists made an active choice to torture someone. To ignore the victim's cries and pleads for them to stop. To continue raping the victim even when they were clearly uncomfortable.

No one in their right mind would ever think to rape a woman, a man, a child, an elderly person, an animal. They made that active decision. They thought about it, they were given time to think about it, they acted on it, they could have stopped but they didn't. That was THEIR CHOICE that THEY MADE.

Raping someone will never and should never be redimable, because it isn't.

Living with parents who are neglectful towards dogs

Mayroon akong (18M) tatlong aso. Eldest ng doggies ko ay 8 years old yung sa tunga and ang youngest ay 6 years old (ang puti sa gilid).

Nag move kami just this year to a new home kasi na basag bahay namin due to the typhoon last year. My dogs were always inside dogs before na wala bahay namin pero my mother never interacted with them. Now na dito na kami sa bagong bahay, may problema ang mother ko with the dogs. Lots of problems.

It was difficult pero I had convinced my mother na pwede yung dogs dito sa sulod, pero she will only allow two of my dogs to be allowed inside while my other dog (yung puti si Nikko) ay doon lang sa labas sa may 4 by 8 meter fence with a big dog house. The initial reason was because taas kasi ang buhok ni Nikko at recently nag worsen na kasi asthma ng mother ko due to her old age (sabi ng doc). Pero that issue has already been solved. I bought a robot vacuum with my savings para ma pick up yung hairs and I vacuum the whole house manually pa.

Now ang reason kung bakit ayaw niya is that she just doesn't want Nikko inside at all. Ayaw niya e rehome si Nikko kasi bakit daw yung puti na aso ang ipag give away ko daw??? (she sees them as nothing more than property to boast about), ayaw din niya ipa balik dito sa sulod kasi "ang rami na ng dogs dito."

It's a bad dilemma to be in kasi Nikko has always been used to being with other dogs. Ang lonely ng dog ko sa labas lang siya. He barks every morning and every night sometimes until 9pm. For a month I've been fighting with my mother about this issue. Nakita ko na yung skin ni Nikko ay nag develop na ng rash which I've already taken him to the vet for. He's not doing well outside.

Kahit ano ayaw niya talaga.

I've always known my mother was neglectful with and all kinds of pets. Unfortunately, that's what she grew up with. I've since been trying talaga na e break yung cycle na abuse na ganyan since I got my dogs. She thinks kasi kahit tubig at pagkain lang yung e bigay ok na yung dogs, with no sense of actual care for their well-being. Ako ang nag bathe, nag walk morning at hapon, nag groom, magpakain, vitamins, etc.

Paano naman e convince yung parent ko na neglectful with dogs?

Holy Voice Affirmation

My friend brought up that I sounded like MummyJoe (search him up on yt) when I'm doing a goofy voice. I didn't believe it at first then I did a voice message to compare them and holy shit he's 100% right.

11 months on T and I've been so insecure about my voice lately even though it passes. Brain worms really don't quit. This just affirmed a lot for me haha

When I (19M) was 14 up until 17 I went through psychosis where I was having hallucinations (visual and auditory, but mostly auditory) and a false belief that I was being tracked through my phone. My condition was only fully dealt with when I was 17 by a very lovely psychiatrist, and I have fully recovered since then. Ask me anything

Currently 11 months on T and I pass 80-90% of the time but I thought that other people knew I was trans, seemed so obvious to me. Apparently not. A girl from a different program that I've been friends with for a while joined a conversation with me and two other guys (both know I'm trans). The convo shifted to name initials because me and the other guy (best friend) write our names using our initials.

I can't legally change my name but I do go by my initials or lived name and that's what a majority of people know me by.

I just told her that my initials meant *insert lived name*, I won't say anything more but as the conversation went on I realised that she did not know I was trans at all. The other guys also realised this and we just side-eyed each other, but they didn't say anything about it which I love them for that.

All my classmates know I'm trans, I was already starting to pass but because my legal name was still on the roster it kinda just gave it away. It's fine though, they're chill and are completely supportive. I could not ask for a better and healthier school environment, they're awesome as hell.

For the past year I've been taping daily with KT tape (because the adhesive irritates me and I have a big chest). If you're someone who tapes regularly and has constantly struggled with feeling sticky after removal and even after showering here's a routine that might help you:

  1. Take off the tape using oil, I only let it soak for about 30 seconds to a minute tops. I've found this to be the best for me as it makes removal easy but doesn't fully melt the adhesive onto my skin, which is what causes the stickyness

  2. Wipe the excess oil with some tissues or anything soft, if there's any melted adhesive do as much as you can to take it off right there

  3. Take a bath, preferably a warm bath, soap and rinse everything off

  4. Dry yourself off with a towel, I usually just pat myself down instead of rubbing. Make sure you're fully dry, take some of that baby powder and powder both your chest and back or any place you had tape applied. If there is any adhesive left the baby powder will stick to the leftover adhesive and you can gently rub it off you

  5. It might get messy so be ready with a broom or vacuum, highly recommend doing the powder step on smooth floor, anywhere but the carpet

Overall how is my face now? Are the clothes alright? And how old would you say I am?

The first pics are my most recent, then the succeeding ones are like 1-2 months in the past. I don't usually wear berets nor beanies anymore because I don't think they suit me well but I lost my favorite blue cap
