USB Port Not Working (ZC32s)

As the title says, my USB port is not working. Tried different cables, fuse looks good, cigarette plug works fine. Any ideas?

Ajutor - Track Day (TMR)

Salutare! Din nefericire nu am reusit sa gasesc suficienta informatie asupra a cum as putea sa ajung la un track day la TMR (Transilvania Motor Ring), si mi-ar fi de mare folos daca m-ar putea ghida cineva cu experienta. Multumesc!

STATICA MV - My take on the meaning

First and foremost I think STATICA is Avenged Sevenfold after A.I. takes over.

The video itself has many ironical statements that showcase an "optimal" yet stale "life".

It starts with a TV full of static that reads the intro to the song. I don't think there is necessarily anything deep about this.

Next, the shops open up. They show the TRANS AM registered as California - NOWHERE, possibly showcasing that in this universe, where A.I. took over humanity, "life" has become meaningless even for the A.I. itself.

The cassette scene is probably a reference to Avenged Sevenfold being the core for STATICA itself.

The phonebook is most likely referencing how without humans, there is no identity left to have. Anyone is essentially the same, because A.I. knows everything. There are no new memories to make, and no creativity to invent something exciting, because you cannot simulate happiness or excitement.

"Happiness is so good."
Pretty self explanatory and relates to how A.I. has no emotions. It needs to hear that happiness is good because it yearns to know how it feels.

The supermarket scene is a joke on how optimized everything has become, and also probably a reference to consumerism and how anything at this point has become the same thing rebranded.

"Find the truth inside." I think this is just a joke lol - Looks like a milk carton, probably is milk.

Or is it?

Johnny (or his clone rather) is "shocked" to see another clone that has taken his appearance. Another hint at the fact that nothing is original anymore. And it's kinda funny

Same goes for the repeating TRANS AMs and cloned M Shadows. M Shadowses?

The transition goes hard, and it also probably shows just how easily A.I. can reshape its reality and identity at will.

"Stay with me. I feel empty" No notes, just the fact that there is nothing new to learn. Nothing to be created. The arcade scene also hints at this by the scene where a videogame car just drives in a loop with the HUD displaying "NOWHERE; MPH xxx"

The solo itself is pretty underwhelming. I think it was an artistic choice in order to highlight how A.I. is pretty mundane when it comes to generating music.

TL;DR A.I. misses humans because they are unable to make anything interesting without real creativity.

1.8 MZR - Ugly duckling or misunderstood?

Hi there r/MiataNC , I am the proud owner of a Sunlight Silver 2006 1.8 MX5.

In this thread I would like to both cover and question a few things about the 1.8 MZR equipped in the NC (especially the NC1).

  1. The elephant in the room: Oil consumption.

From my research, both 1.8 and 2.0 NC1 MX5s are prone to the same problem. Oil consumption. The cause is of course the piston rings essentially failing, but there is a common myth that the 1.8 is the one that is guaranteed to crap itself. That is in fact not true, as many 2.0 owners have reported the same exact issue on their NC1s (NC2 and NC3 are in fact better mechanically), and if properly maintained, both NC1 1.8 and 2.0 engines can and will live a happy life. It mostly depends on how it was treated.

The causes for both of these engines having their piston rings stick is:

a) Broken thermostat that was not diagnosed and fixed on time.

Running the engine cold causes it to run rich, the excess fuel does not atomize properly, and washes away the protective oil film that lubricates the pistons and rings.

b) Oil change intervals

Mazda brochures said to change oil at 12,500 miles. Need I say more?
I even have a friend that had his 1.8 serviced its whole life in Germany this way, at the official Mazda dealership and now it sadly but not unexpectedly burns oil. I recommend changing oil every 5000 miles (less if you only make short trips with it).
I use 5W-40 for the better heat protection, 5W-30 should be fine too though. Full synthetic.

c) Driving like an old fart

This might sound stupid, but by driving this car like a hybrid corolla, you'll get carbon deposits. I don't mean you should drive around town at 7000 rpm constantly, but I highly recommend letting her rip every few days (call it the Italian tune-up if you will), in order for your engine to stay healthy.

Quote from duratecnc.co.uk

"If your engine is healthy and you want it to stay that way then do the opposite of all that makes it break; Oil and filter changes at 6 – 8000 miles, use fully synthetic oil and when safe to do so (and the engine is fully up to temp, after at least 20 mins of driving) redline it now and again. Straight and uphill motorway slip roads private roads and tracks are good for this, get it in the lowest gear you safely can and nail it all the way up to 70mph, just be careful and don’t have an accident. Mazda engines love to be revved, they were built for it and this will help keep the piston rings free."

d) Performance wise, is the 1.8 really that slow?

Depends on what you consider slow. You won't be winning drag races with it, but you sure will win the hearts of everyone with your MX5 due to how fun it is to both drive and be in.

Compared to the 2.0? Yes. Awfully? No.
You can always do bolt-on mods to the 1.8 and bring it up to about 150-160 hp if you really need it to. Cheaper than buying a 2.0 up-front in this economy anyway.

Most MX5 owners are either in the UK or the USA where there is a marginally bigger aftermarket for these cars. For us people in mainland Europe, a 2.5 swap is not only extremely difficult, but also impossible due to modification restrictions in most countries.

And remember, there is no such thing as a bad Miata. Have fun!
