Was startled to find this little guy in my shower this evening. Not sure what species, but they were safely released outside

So I’ve been collecting these Anko Sanrio dolls and Kmart seems to be determined to keep them going, so here are the doll from the Cinnamoroll cake stand set and the doll from the Kuromi RC car set.

The Clara (Cinnamoroll doll) appears to be the same as her box doll, but with a different outfit. The cake stand is very flimsy but honestly it only comes out to AUD10 more than the box doll so I’m not surprised. It’s cute, and young me would have loved it. The Luna (Kuromi doll) is almost like a budget version, which is impressive since these dolls are already pretty cheap. She’s a lighter weight (and colour!) plastic, and she has a slightly different face up.

I had planned to pick my least favourite of the dolls I have doubles of, and use them for customising practice, and I think my Luna choice has been made for me. Still cute though.

The car is kind of fun though mine has issues with steering. Going to talk to a friend who is better with electronics.

Also the Kuromi that comes with the car set is hollow plastic instead of the heavy rubber material the other Sanrio characters are made of, and is holding a pink pineapple for some reason.

I just got this doll from a local thrift shop and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about her? She is completely made of fabric , with joints at her shoulders and hips. She has no tags. I think it’s possible she’s home made?

For anyone else collecting the Australian Kmart Sanrio dolls, the Pochacco doll has an…interesting hair rooting pattern. I’m going to paint that patch black on mine

While shopping at Tuxedosam’s shop in City Town, I noticed that for some reason the hats, and only the hats, had their names in Spanish in my otherwise English language game. Has anyone else seen this?

So a while ago I saw a post about the Anko Dark Academy budget dolls. And I got them! Also the Hello Kitty and Friends dolls that use the same sculpt. Each doll has two outfits worth of clothes, some accessories, and a little buddy.

The Sanrio figurines are the highest quality thing in these packs 😆 I guess that’s why they cost $4 more

They’re not good quality but I would have loved them as a kid who grew up mostly with “11 inch fashion doll, can share clothes with leading brands”. With a bit of work, I think they’ll be great

As far as I can tell, these dolls were made for Kmart Australia/New Zealand, and the Dark Academy ones came out first. They’re pretty clearly meant to be a store-brand budget alternative to Monster High (DA originally retailed at AU$16, MH starts from around AU$25). Then the store gained a license for Sanrio and made dolls using the same sculpt.

They are… not good. But I have a deep love for knockoffs and the fact that they’re all the same means they can all share clothes, so that’s neat. I may use them for customising practice.
