Downed Necro Worked

He went down against the Throbbing King. He had the leech one, the heal, and Haunt w/ +6 Corpse health. Though it appeared that the healing from the leeches also healed the corpse.

The infinite range helped deal constant damage in Phase 2 and the healing was upgraded so that helped too. You definitely need to make sure you have some key pieces in place, but it's surprisingly powerful.

Deckbuilding Preferences

How do you guys feel about deckbuilding?

My perspective is at the kitchen-table level, but it feels like making a good Runner deck is more about having a toolkit as opposed to a singular strategy revolving around a pool of cards. Not to say those engines don't exist, but it feels like that design space is relegated to credit generation. While the cardpool used to interact with the board is more generalist.

Corporations feel like, I have to build the deck around a very specific game plan (score agendas or kill the Runner) and every single card has to contribute to that gameplan. Every inefficiency is a turn the Runner can just say, "eh, I'll click for four credits" on their bank of 5.

Bankhar

Anyone feel that Bankhar would be perfect if it was 2 net damage (or was designed around the subroutines dealing 2 net damage)?

Maybe this is my inner Phoenix talking, but the base version seems so clearly breakable that I feel more damage would be a more impactful tradeoff

Dorohedoro Anti-fascist / Anti-linertarian Themes?

I find how the world and narrative interact with one another to be beautifully intricate. We are consistently met with groups of characters who are clearly likeable and affectionate with each other. While they have antagonist roles in the story, they are never denied a range of emotion (except for random mooks).

Speaking of mooks, we see how they are often driven by hatred, often driven by the nature of their society, a society that lacks a central government that looks out for its people. While devils certainly have a leadership role in sorcerer society, they are often depicted as being driven by their own self interest. Even punishment of other devils appears to be done for selfish reasons (why didn't you tell me about X?) as opposed to higher laws being broken.

From these, I find there to be an anti-fascist and anti-libertarian theme in Dorohedoro. We see how "might makes right" has rippling, violent effects that effect even those who attempt to live outside that system (Shin's childhood). We also see how such a system causes wonderful, loving people to be driven to murder each other. Because if they don't, they and the ones they love will be victims.

There are enough successful and community-positive businesses to make it clear the story isn't exactly anti-capitalist. However, I do think it shows a logical conclusion to a lassaix-faire government in the Sorcerer society, and by extension, the Hole. Power will aggregate to those who can wield like a club (Sorcerers). So long as the members of whatever central government that does exist get to move forward with their personal, selfish agendas, they'll be fine with whatever happens in larger society (Devils).

What do we all think?

With new players, I try to find a way to describe the game in as susinct a way as possible.

I've gotten value out of saying "This is a card counting game". I feel it helps the player really hone a mentality that drives them forward with any plays they make.
