Need tips on applying for college, master's level.

I hope this post isn't too long, and thank you for reading. I truly hope this does not get taken down. I don't know where else to go. There is no anxiety or stress, just looking for tips or thoughts.

Is there anyone here who is totally blind or has low vision, that went to college to get a masters degree? I am blind myself, so I am asking in this sub for that reason. The reason I don't know what to do now, is someone did the applying for me in the past. If you went to college, Did you succeed in your program? Was the program online, on campus, or hybrid? Where did you start with the application process? I'm trying to get into Western Oregon University. I already have my eye on a program. Again, I'm trying to go for my masters. I'm not really sure where to start. I don't want to just go and apply, but I'm not sure what to do first. Any tips, or advice, is greatly appreciated. And as always, please be respectful. I hope my post is clear. TLDR: I want to apply to Western Oregon university, and taking my blindness into account, I don't know what to do first before just jumping in and applying. Thank you.

Adding text to images with JAWS?

I have some images I want to save on my computer. They are labeled with voice over on my iPhone. This does not transfer to JAWS when I export the photos. I know renaming them is an option. Can I add descriptions other ways? Or do I just rename them? I have JAWS 2022. Windows 11.

In your opinion, our websites that use surveys and pay participants a scam?

Hello. Sorry if this isn't allowed here, but I wanted some thoughts from other low vision slash blind users. Can't post it on R/blind Because it's related to surveys. So I got a call from a sighted friend this last weekend. She was really excited and wanted to share. Apparently, she's on a site where researchers post surveys, and pay the participants. She said she makes about $50 a month. She says sometimes, they sent her gift cards that she uses for groceries. She wanted me to sign up with prolific. I looked it up, and there was a post about it on R/sidehustle And a lot of people are saying it's worth it. Does anyone do this? My friend says she even contacted someone about how accessible it is, and they said it was. What do you all think?

Does anyone here take pictures with an iPhone? Do you add captions for sighted people?

Hello again. I went on another group to ask this, but no one was able to help. I have some images of my mom's garden. I want to be able to add captions to the pictures, identifying the type of flower. I want to share them with other sighted friends. Not on facebook. Just in text messages and email. I managed to add a caption one time. The caption ended up in the middle of the picture, blurring it. I also took a selfie once, and somehow added a caption. It ended up across my face. I tried to do it again today. I got to the space to add the caption. I added it in. There was no way to confirm it added. When I ran it through be my eyes, it said there was no caption. Do I have to use a different app? I know there's an option to add an image description for voice over. I can do that just fine. I have a 14Pro. Thank you for all your help.

Food on a budget. How do you manage?

I live with my partner and we both get food stamps. We find that we're running out before the end of the month. I tried to ask for advice in another sub. I made the mistake of mentioning I was blind, and that's all people could focus on, getting completely off topic. So how do you do it? Do you meal plan? How do you not get overwhelmed? Do you buy meat? Canned food? Do you buy that rice that comes in pouches? How about vegetable packs for stir fry? I can't really freeze a lot, because I don't have a lot of freezer space. I cannot afford costco. My mom sometimes brings me a chicken, that gets us at least two meals. She brings us eggs too. Since there's not much meal planning, trips to the grocery store are at least three times a week. Thank you so much for any tips or tricks.

I am really embarrassed to post this, but I really need help and don't know where else to go. Any and all thoughts are welcome.

I am totally blind from birth. I have just been diagnosed with ADHD. I am seeing a therapist for a totally different problem. I don't know what I said, but she gave me an assessment. It was like, five questions, and I felt it was garbage. I know I'm not a doctor, but it felt like the questions could also be applied to other diagnoses. It's also fishy that I have ADHD, just like all her other clients. I can't get a new therapist, because no one in my area is taking clients. So. Does anyone here have ADHD? How does it impact you? Is the saying that blind people can't get ADHD a myth? Thank you. PS. I am not looking for medical advice. Just shared experience.

When do you try and squash a blind person myth, and when do you just let it go?

Please be respectful. This is just a discussion.

We all know some of the myths surrounding us. The one I hear most is the, blind people have heightened senses. Another one is, blind people are all nice and judgment free. I've also heard sighted people compare us to dare devil. Here's the point of this post. I was on another sub, and saw a post about a guide dog helping their owner find the bathroom. This poster claimed the guide dog uses the smell of hormones to find the bathroom. I tried finding any information online to verify this claim. Nothing. I commented on the post and asked for a source. I got replies about drug sniffing dogs, and cancer detecting dogs. If those are trained to do those tasks, a guide dog is clearly trained for this. I figure I'd step away, before I made someone upset. What would you have done?

Side note. I don't believe blind people have heightened senses because we are blind. I believe we learn over time, to use the senses we have as time goes by. As always, please be respectful.

Suggestions for getting to medical appointments? I am totally blind, details below.

I posted a while back about problems with medical transport. I am in Oregon, and use Motive care. I need assistance finding the building when I arrive at the medical facility. They refuse to accommodate me. They say my medic-aid plan does not offer that. It is only for people on stretchers. I have spoken to a motive care supervisor. If I cannot get this resolved, what should I do? I've been dropped off at the wrong location, and the drivers just drive away without checking. One time, a driver failed to come pick me up altogether. When I called Motive care to try and get home, the driver lied and said they called me and I was rude to them. One of my clinics is in a difficult location, and only one company has gotten me there successfully. When I try and request to ride with that company, motive care says I can't do that. It's up to the routing department. I do not have an escort for my appointments. No one is available. I have tried asking drivers to wait with me for five minutes, for a staff member to come get me. Apparently, that's too much. Lyft and uber drivers get upset when I ask them to help me find the building. One person said they weren't medically trained. What should I do? If you're totally blind, how do you get to appointments, and make it inside? How do you get back home? Thanks for reading. Please be respectful if I'm missing something that should be obvious. I never had to deal with this, until something changed a couple months ago. Thank you for any thoughts or suggestions.

Is imgur accessible in any way for iPhone?

Sometimes other subs have links to images on there. I tried to play around on there, but got no where. I thought I'd ask before giving up. I'm on an iPhone.

Are any of the songs in the show real? There's a lot of episodes where you hear parts of songs in the background. Also, was Backhouse Mike part of the music production?
