How long would you wait for a long-distance partner who keeps asking you to be patient?

I'm in my 40s, and I've been in a long-distance relationship with my American boyfriend (60s) for two years. We met in person more than 2 years ago.

He's now talking about coming back to the Philippines for at least a year, but I honestly don't know how he'll make that happen since he's still working in the US. There's no definite timeline.

What's frustrating is that he seems busier now than when he was working two jobs. We still communicate regularly, but lately I feel emotionally disconnected. I don't feel like I'm getting the emotional support I need from this relationship.

Whenever I ask when he's coming back, he asks me, "Why can't you wait?"

I'm getting fed up, but I also don't want to give up easily. I was single for a long time before this relationship, and I genuinely hoped this would be the one.

I'm in my 40s, and while I still look young for my age, I don't want to spend the rest of my good years waiting for a future that may or may not happen.

For those who've been in a similar situation, how long would you wait? At what point would you stop waiting and start choosing yourself?

How do you stay under the radar and keep your jobs long-term? Do you just stop speaking up?

I recently lost a remote job and it made me rethink how I approach work, especially because I’m considering becoming OE in the future.

I’m naturally assertive and tend to notice workflow/process problems quickly. If I see something inefficient, I’ll ask questions or suggest a better way to do it. I also have a habit of explaining the context when a manager asks why something wasn’t completed instead of simply acknowledging it and moving on.

In my recent job, I worked for a small remote company where we were openly encouraged to share feedback and ideas about the system and workflow. I learned the system quickly and was doing the work, so when I noticed a few processes that directly affected our workload, I spoke up because I genuinely thought that was part of the culture. For example, unresolved cases couldn’t always be handed off to the next shift, which sometimes meant staying well beyond scheduled hours. I also suggested a few workflow improvements through the proper channel they had specifically created for feedback and ideas.

Looking back, though, I’m wondering whether “we welcome feedback” is something you should still approach very cautiously, especially in a small company where management dynamics are more personal.

I was eventually let go for vague “performance concerns.” No specific metrics or performance issues were given, so I’m taking this as an opportunity to reassess how I operate in remote jobs.

For those who have successfully stayed OE for years, what do you actually do to protect your jobs?

Do you mostly keep your head down, complete your assigned work, and avoid commenting on inefficient systems unless someone specifically asks for your opinion?

When a manager points out something you missed, do you simply say “Got it, I’ll take care of it” instead of explaining why it happened?

Do you avoid becoming the person who advocates for coworkers or points out workload/fairness issues?

And how do you balance being competent and reliable without becoming too visible, taking on more responsibility, or accidentally making a manager feel challenged?

I’m especially interested in advice from people who naturally have strong/assertive personalities. Did you have to consciously change how you communicate once you became OE?

Basically: what behaviors have helped you stay employed, stay out of workplace politics, and maintain multiple jobs long-term?

• Ilang years usually ang contract?
• Ano dapat bantayan sa contract as landowner?
• Ano usual escalation/rent increase setup?
• Mas okay ba direct company or franchisee?

For context:

Anyone here tried HK Express? Need help with check-in & baggage

Hi,

Just wanted to check with travelers here who have already tried HK Express. This is our first time booking with this airline.

I just have a few questions:

  1. It says “Ultra Lite” even though we already paid for 20kg baggage both ways. I’m a bit confused because I heard this airline is very strict with luggage, and honestly, I’m not a fan of that 😭😂
  2. When does online check-in usually become available? From what I know, it should open around 72 hours before the flight, but ours still isn’t available.

We only chose this airline because the flight schedule perfectly fits our trip. But when I saw the economy airline setup… gosh, I was shocked 😭😂 Parang electric car yung vibe.

Need Help Checking BIR Zonal Value for Inherited Properties in Oas, Albay

Hi everyone.

I’m hoping someone from BIR or anyone familiar with property valuation in Albay can help me.

I inherited 2 properties located in Oas, Albay, and I’m currently considering selling them due to people starting to squat in the area. Before I proceed, I would like to know the current zonal value of the properties so I can have an idea of the pricing and taxes involved.

Is there anyone here from BIR or someone knowledgeable who can guide me on how to check the zonal value for properties in Oas, Albay? Or if there’s an updated reference/site I can check?

Thank you so much in advance.
