This is my very first sock. It is super small but only meant for practice

Ask the title said I decided to make a sock with a small amount of yarn and a smaller size for practice. Turned out pretty decent I think though I had troubles with the hill and connecting it back to the main body. Overall not a bad first try

Cheap tools ideas?

I was working on something today and I have my counter. I don't like it. I tend to start using it and then it gets somewhere on my couch and I can never find it again. So I decided to attach it to a hook so it's always on my knitting. I also don't have any straight needles except for three sizes, but I have like 11 different sized DPN. I added stoppers to use as straight needles. There are a lot of things we have that can be used for other purposes like scrap yarn for stitch markers. Anythings you guys use that people may not think about for helping to not go out and buy something.

I finished my hat finally. Lots and lots of frogging

Here's a picture of my finished hat. It was an experience. I had to frog and do at least half of what I had already done at that point over again. And I had to frog at least another four or five times most of which was because of the decreases. Since I didn't know how to ladder the decreases I pretty much had to frog them. I don't mind frogging I mind that I can never get my needle back in without doing them one by one and nearly having the ladder every single stitch back onto my needle.

Either way I'm happy it's my cleanest piece and the one I feel the most comfortable wearing out in public. The decreases are definitely not the cleanest but part of that is just not knowing how to read the pattern correctly. I learned knit the knit and purl the purls does not mean start the ribbing pattern over again as you did for the first thousand rows.

Not sure what the next project is maybe socks I'm not ready to do something big like a sweater or a shirt yet.

Help!!! Frogging disaster

Somehow or another I started knitting in the wrong direction and I decided to frog the section of the needle that had the issue but it end up point out stitches from multiple rows below. This is what I'm stuck with I still think it's fixable but I don't know how. I'm trying to do laddering but it gets super tight towards the last couple of rows

My first month progress. Beginner to better beginner

My First Month Progress. Started off just doing basic stuff and then I tried to get fancy with lace and stuff like that. Complete it my first project with the washcloth in cotton which drove me crazy with all the splitting. Wait on to try other stuff with the hats and so forth. Making another hat now as my goal to have multicolor hats created before winter at least five or six. This is the cleanest I've ever gotten at this point in a knit so kind of excited at the growth.

Fixing this twist

Somewhere along the line I twisted something or did a knit when I should have did a purl. This corner should always be 2 purls. I can see what line the issue first happened at and I want to go down to fix it. I don't want to frog all the way back down there possible as I think I can do it with my crochet hook. Is this one of those fix it or move on situations. This is probably my best and cleanest project so far and I've been very intentional about fixing things. I do feel comfortable using the crochet needle as I just had to go down three rows and fix two knits that I had did as a purl by accident. I'm uncertain because fixing that nothing was twisted or anything like this one appears.

Help. DPN or Magic loop

So I was told that the cord length is always the cord and the needles together. So when I bought a set online that said it had a 15.9 in cord I assume that included the needles. It did not. So now I'm pretty much stuck doing magic loop which is what I was trying to avoid or I could have used a needles I already owned. Also I think that I've already messed up the in the round and I'll have to start over again. If I'm going to start over I almost rather just use my double pointed needles again. Tell me am I screwed and have to start over. I'm at the point where I just finished the very first row. And I don't know that it should be that long of yarn

Edit: thanks everyone for all the advice. I'm going to go back to the DPN and use that. I do want to buy circular needles, but I'm going to spend more time researching the brands and the cable lengths. My one goal is before winter to have at least four or five different hats of different colors that I can exchange based on what I'm wearing. I do want to try to circle a needles but for now I'm more comfortable in a DPN for this project.

Finished hat number 2. Thoughts

So I finished my hat. I think it's only a little better than the first one. I find myself with the same issues especially with the ribbing and the combining stitches. I'm not sure how I'm combining stitches and then ending up with extra stitches or losing stitches. The part of me that wants to make another hat to prove I can do it is also tired of making hats.

Any thoughts on a project to do after this. I was thinking socks but also I do want to do some more ribbing as I think I need to practice that a lot more. I'm not ready for something big like a shirt or anything and I want something a little more interesting than a scarf. I have bought circular needles so I will try those next time instead of the DPN.

Second hat

I don't know if I should start over or what. I'm getting extra stitches and then I'm coming back and then there's less stitches and guess somehow I still have the correct number of total stitches. I definitely have one drop stitch it's the only one I can for sure say. Any thoughts on how to fix this.

This is my first time using wool. I am actually enjoying it way more than cotton. The dark color makes it really hard to see stitches and it's really hard to find a stitch when it comes off my needle so I'm pretty sure I'm stabbing in the middle of stitches sometimes.

Yes I know about circular needles. No I'm not going to buy any at the moment because I just bought these and I want to complete a few projects before I start spending more money. The pair I have are too big for a hat and magic loop was not for me when I tried it. I'm still getting back to using metal needles as I switch to wood for a lot of what I was doing so there is some slipping off but it does happen rarely and almost always with the needle I'm actually working with.

First hat

First hat with LOTS of issues. Even at the very end I had three stitches drop off my needles as I was casting off. The yarn is so easily unravel that I couldn't find my loops. Overall I completed it which was the main goal. Not happy with the result definitely won't be wearing this in public but it's done.

First DPN and problems with rib

After my cast on I started my first row. I lost three stitches. One of them I noticed and I just fixed it by adding another loop to my knit since that's where I lost it at based on the loop count. The other two I lost the very end of the first row. The pictures what I'm stuck with I don't really want to start over again. I'm okay with having instead of 2x2 my very last rib be a four in a row rib. I've already accepted that my tension is way off and I can accept the one 4 rib. The problem is this big gap and I don't know what to do with it. My mind says just keep going and forget it.

This is my first project except a washcloth I've been playing it really safe and only doing swatches. Should I just keep going. I never expect this to be a perfect hat or anything since it's my first time anyway.

Edit: is going to look weird but I decided just the cast on two stitches and continue. I was only on my second row so it may look weird for one row but I don't think it'll be that noticeable. The pattern later on needs the exact number of stitches to be there or I'm going to get more confused. Thoughts?

Day 5

My projects in my first week. Please give any advice you might have. I plan to redo the wash cloth so it's cleaner in the future but probably not Irish Moss next time.

u/Simoxeh — 1 month ago

First piece

Here is my first piece. Irish Moss made out of cotton with US 7 needles. Is the stitch even noticeable? Thoughts?

Beginner any tips

I just started getting serious about this probably Three days ago. I'm finding myself running to a lot of problems but the most common one seems to be tension either do too tight or not tight enough. I switch to wooden knitting needles over metal. What are some good beginner tips and things I should probably focus on just to start off with. I'm not in a rush to create scarfs or anything to wear just practicing the same routines over and over again to get better at it.

Here's an example of what I did today. It does what it's supposed to do but I can definitely tell if you look at the bottom rows where I started the tension is completely different from the top rows which look a little better if you ignore my cast off.

Thanks for any tips or advice. I included a picture of my current supplies as well.

Monster Hunter Wilds Squad

I saw like three posts within a day about Monster Hunter and responded and that was it. I want to actually get a group together that wants to play. So if y'all interested let's start a new Squad. I play weeknights and all weekends mostly USA Central Time. If I'm not on, and we already connected in DMs just DM me I'll get the message and maybe join.

I don't care about expertise or anything. I haven't played this game like a year though I am a long time series player. So if you're on your first hunt or you're thousandth doesn't matter. It's Auto join so no need to wait for someone to let you in.
