Cooling mats

Has anyone had any luck with cooling mats? I see ads for Pelsbarn and it also comes with a cooling pillow and blanket.

Should I buy my own router instead of renting theirs?

We’ve always had our own modem and router. When ours needed to be replaced, I started renting one from optimum. Our WiFi is now spotty, the tv screen is blurry. No amount of troubleshooting, including talking to them, is helping anything. The router is 20 ft from the tv, no interference.

Will getting our own possibly fix this problem? Are the ones they rent just crap? We live in a 1300 sq ft townhouse.

Boarding 😔

We’re boarding our pup for the first time. Usually my sis in law takes him, but she’s not available.

The place we’re taking him to is highly recommended by friends and in general. They do daycare so I’m bringing him there a few days before for a half day so it’s familiar.

He loves other dogs. He’s very chill. I’m sure he’ll be fine. But…

Is he going to be sad??? Will he think we’re never coming back?? It’s 2 nights. I’m just beside myself.

Do you think he’ll be ok?? Will he be sad when he’s sleeping there??? 💔

Bloodwork shows potassium level 5.8.

I am a 45 year old female, 5,1”, 180 lbs. Active, in good health. Slightly high cholesterol. I have a history of my potassium levels being a bit high on blood tests. My most recent was 5.8, the highest it’s been. I see my doctor a week from now. In the meantime, is this why my head has been feeling spacey? My chest feeling kind of weird and jittery? My eyesight seems different, like it takes a few seconds to focus. I do also have occasional numbness in my fingers , I was thinking that’s probably carpal tunnel. My bloodwork shows good kidney function so I don’t know why potassium would be elevated. I don’t eat bananas or other high potassium foods.

Feeling unwell

I’m attempting to quit smoking (for the umpteenth time) starting 4 days ago, using the patch. I’m not a pack a day, maybe 5 or 10. But I’ll smoke a whole pack on a Saturday. So I’m starting with step 2. However I won’t have those until today. I have leftover step 3 so I’m using those in the meantime.
My cravings aren’t crazy, unless I’m drinking. Which I am taking a break from in hopes that that will help. I’ve been a pretty heavy drinker, especially the last few months.
I feel like crap! I’m so exhausted, queasy, and just off. Is this normal? Is it more because of the lack of alcohol?

How long to use warm compress?

I have a stubborn spot under my boob. It drained but I guess not completely. I’ve been using a warm compress for days, most of the day. Should I keep doing this indefinitely until the rest of it looks drained and there’s not really a bump there? Does it ever entirely drain? I don’t know if I’ve ever had any of them seem to drain to the point where they’re flat. But I’ve not really used compresses in the past.
This is a newer spot than the inside of my thighs. I’ve only had 3 or 4 flare ups in this spot.

I’ve been looking at cooling mats for my dog. He’s medium sized, perfect health and weight, hair instead of fur and not a particularly heavy coat. But he does NOT handle the heat well at all.
Has anyone had experience with one that they like?

My pup is on Simperica Trio but I had been hoping to find something to repel the ticks in the first place as he’s bringing them in the house. I was looking at a lot of natural options, and then came across K9 Advantix, a topical that goes between the shoulder blades.

When I called the vet to see if that can be used in addition to the Simperica, the receptionist said there’s no way to repel the ticks to begin with. Is that true? It seems odd when there are a lot of options out there. She didn’t check with the doctor but I assume it’s a question they get a lot and the girl knew what she was talking about.

I live in North West NJ and the ticks are horrific already this year. My low rider’s favorite things to do are hike, run around in fields, and roll in the grass.

He takes Simparica Trio every month but I’d like to avoid the ticks coming in on him in the first place. Sometimes they fall off before biting him and dying.

Has anyone had luck with natural sprays like 3 Moms or Wondercide?
