Did you hear they played Frank Sinatra's "My Way" on Lithuanian radio during the shelter alert?

To better understand the absurdity, the song starts with "And now, the end is near".

I saw this on the internet, listened to the broadcast and heard Lithuanian radio apologise. Oddly enough as someone who didn't grow up in the region, I've gotten very quickly used to this already, as yesterday during the alert and shoot down here in Estonia, I was thinking more about the hot weather over the rogue drone threat.

I think it's best we laugh at the mistake, ask our leaders to improve our air defense, and don't let russian EW countermeasures scare us in any way. In other words, keep calm and carry on.

From New Jersey to Tartu: How Kiirstin Marilyn Kuhi is reclaiming Her Estonian Voice

Thank you all for the opportunity so share this.

Nine years ago, Kiirstin Marilyn released “She,” a song inspired by the story of her paternal grandmother. It explored Kiirstin’s understanding of her as a child, and how that understanding deepened over time as she learned more about the struggles her grandmother endured as an Estonian fleeing World War II for America.

Since releasing “She,” Kiirstin has twice traveled to Estonia to attend Laulupidu, the Estonian Song Festival. The first time, in 2019, she attended as a listener. The second, in 2025, she returned as a performer with the New York Estonian Mixed Choir.

“Naine” is both a re-recording and a reimagining of “She.” Now performed in Estonian, it completes a journey, one of understanding her grandmother, her father, and ultimately herself

This is likely going to further discourage Estonian and Baltic investment into the US defense sector and further into developing local defense industry.

It's nice to hear that some non-ethnic Estonians are embracing Estonian culture. This is what I was saying when I lived in America, that unless non-ethnics are embraced culturally into the Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian Diasporas, these communities will to die out from assimilation and aging members.
