TV Licence letter already.

I just got a letter dated August 10th, stating I don't have a TV licence, that I haven't had one since April, and they have tried to contact me repeatedly, and that now officers are authorized to investigate my property.

Problem: I just got the keys to the place August 5th, dont have a physical TV, and wasn't even in the flat for more than a couple days before I was out of the country packing to ship things here.

I have heard the TV licence people were silly. But this is ridiculous.

First Judo class thursday. Excited but nervous!

First post here on r/judo . I'm starting Judo on Thursday evening (recently moved to Edinburgh). Excited, but also kinda unsteady. Been teaching and training in taekwondo back in the US since I was 18 (23 years now) and have a wrestling background in middle/high school. Now moving to a new art, and just generally nervous. Gotta wipe my expectations and think like a white-belt again! But any advice/guidance from judokas here on what to expect and behavior to do/avoid would be appreciated. Don't want to look dumb or arrogant on day 1!

Thanks!

New Bike Day! First Brompton ever.

Just moved to Scotland a week ago, and this is my first big purchase here! (and first complete bike i've bought since 2012. Built all my bikes from framesets before that). Just a 4-speed C-line for last mile commuting in it's pretty stock configuration, plus the roller rack. But i doubt it will stay like that for long. I have a horrible tendency to tinker and change things often.

Step 1? The 3d printed spring alignment tools for the hinges.
Step 2? A good front-bag for shopping.
Step 3? Who knows?!?! (I'm thinking about the metal hinges and luggage block, in gold).

[Roamer] Grandfather's watch. Not sure what exactly it is other than the maker

My grandfather passed away a while back and left me his watch [Roamer]. Grandma bought it for him when she was in Italy sometime in the late 50's or early 60's. I have seen other variants of this design, but have been unable to identify this watch. Any information that anyone has about where/when this watch came from or what specific model it is would be greatly appreciated.

Grandpa wore it daily, and had the band replaced a few times, and mom had the broken band replaced after he passed. But I don't know much about watches, and would love to know what my Grandma gave him for his birthday ages ago.

Thank you all!

C or P line? Accessories?

Hi All. I'm moving in a couple weeks, and going to pick up my first Brompton. I'm planning on a 4-speed with the roller rack as my main last-mile commuter. The city has good public transport, so i'm not worried about long distance.

I have 2 questions:

  1. Would the C-line be enough, or is the P-line really worth it? I'm used to steel frame touring bikes (surly, comotion) and a brief stint with carbon road bike (specialized venge).

What are your suggestions for worthwhile accessories? I'm looking at Knog Blinder lights, a leather pull-strap for the front bracket, and maybe small items like the brompton toolkit, the internal triangle bag, etc.

Thanks for the info! I'm excited for the move and to get a brand new bike!

Moving to Edinburgh, looking for bike shop recommendations

Hi All! Finally pulling the ripcord and moving to Scotland. Landing in Glasgow mid-June to stay with family, then getting a place in Edinburgh. Looking to get a 16" Brompton to help with commuting. Any recommendations for good places to get a used Brompton to save some money, or best bike shops in Edinburgh or Glasgow that sell Bromptons and accessories at a decent price? I used to work in a bike shop in the US mostly dealing with road and hybrid bikes, but this is going to be my first folding bike.

Super excited for the move, and would appreciate any help on the Brompton suggestions. Thanks!
