Replacing a wall-mounted vented dryer — vented or ventless?

I currently have a wall-mounted vented dryer that has stopped working and needs to be replaced. I live in a rainy city where it rains more than 150 days a year.

  1. Would you recommend replacing it with another vented dryer or switching to a ventless condenser/heat-pump dryer? Any specific 24-inch models you would recommend for a condo setup?
  2. Is there a meaningful energy-cost saving with a ventless dryer especially a heat-pump model compared with a conventional vented electric dryer?

Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has made a similar switch.

Replacing GE dryer - vented or ventless in rainy city?

Hi everyone,

I need to replace my wall-mounted GE dryer (PCKS443EB2WW) above my GE washer (GFW148SSM0WW) after a technician confirmed the dryer needs replacement.

I live in a rainy city, where we get rain on roughly 155 days a year, so humidity is one of my concerns.

Would you recommend another vented dryer or switching to ventless?

If ventless, would you choose a condenser or heat-pump dryer? Have you experienced increased humidity, condensation, mold concerns, or longer drying times?

Any 24-inch models you would recommend for my setup?

Thanks!

Best place to dispose used bulbs, glass bowls, metal rods from furniture and light fixtures

Hello, May I know where should I dispose used bulbs, light fixtures and glass bowls in Vancouver specifically around West End or North Vancouver? My building doesn’t allow us to dispose these items in the building’s trash boxes so I would really appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

Best way to find a reliable after-school sitter in Vancouver for kindergarten pickup?

My kid starts kindergarten in September and we’re likely not getting a spot in after-school care. We need someone to handle school pickup and supervision at home from ~3:00–6:00 PM, Monday–Friday.

For Vancouver parents: What are the most trustworthy places to find someone solid for this (websites, agencies, local groups), and any red flags or must-ask questions when hiring?

How do I remove this stuck center knob on a flush mount ceiling light to change the bulb?

Hi everyone, I’m trying to change the bulb in this bathroom flush-mount ceiling light (glass dome). The glass is held by the middle gold knob/finial, and it’s completely stuck.

I’m turning it counterclockwise but it won’t budge, and I’m worried I’ll crack the glass. Any safe tips for loosening it (rubber gloves, strap wrench, penetrating oil, heat, etc.)? Also, do any of these fixtures have reverse threads or a hidden set screw? Photos attached. Thanks!

Canada added 11,000 millionaires in 2024. I am curios What jobs/businesses are most likely behind this?

I read that Canada added 11,000 millionaires in 2024 (roughly ~30/day) and it made me curious which lines of work tend to produce the most new millionaires.

If you know anyone personally who became a millionaire in Canada (or you are one), what field were they in? I’m especially curious about the “20% of professions/businesses” that might account for a big share of the results (Pareto-style).
