Yesterday evening I came home from some minor surgery on my nose and had to take some oxycodone for the pain. Decided to watch the michael Jackson movie and obsession back to back. Absolutely wild experience. MJ wasn’t exactly a triumph of cinema but watching the music sequences high was life altering. Following it up with the extremely excellent obsession gave me such whiplash I decided to call out of work for the rest of the week… Inda is a star…
My mom and I just saw the Michael Jackson movie at home. While I wasn’t alive for his peak in the 80s I was super surprised how modern and catchy his music sounded even today and how mesmerizing his dance moves and videos were. Despite the more tragic and controversial parts of his legacy I can understand why people consider him to be the goat. That got us discussing which other musicians biopic could make nearly a billion dollars 50 years after their peak and my mom mentioned that Madonna was also super big in the eighties. I then went on a deep dive of her 80s music and I have to say I came a way a little disappointed… to me it sounded dated and a little corny. So did her music videos and performances. My question basically is for people who are Madonna mega fans or were alive in the 80s- how big/good was Madonna considered back then and today among your generation? Could a biopic of hers do well today? Did she have crossover appeal among races, genders, generations like MJ?
