Book allowance?

Hey everyone,

I’m a new graduate student here at Kennesaw, and I have a question.I’ve received financial aid in my account, but I haven’t received a book allowance. Is that normal for graduate students here?

Dental work in Turkey?

I’m considering the treatment plan pictured, which is $6,700 in Turkey versus $20,000+ in the U.S. Realistically, I can afford the Turkey price right now. I cannot afford $20K+ here, and I’m not sure when I ever would be able to spend that much on dental work.

The two implants/bone grafts aren't something the Turkish clinic randomly suggested. Dentists I've seen here in the U.S. have recommended replacing those missing teeth as well.

The cosmetic portion—the zirconia crowns/"Hollywood smile"—is something I personally want. My teeth aren't terrible, but I want a smile I'm genuinely confident in, and right now I happen to be in a position where I can afford to do it abroad.

I understand there are risks, particularly with preparing healthy teeth for crowns, which is why I'm asking dentists rather than just looking for reassurance.

For dentists who have experience with patients getting this type of work in Turkey: what should I be looking out for? What questions should I ask the clinic, and what would you want verified before you felt comfortable with a patient going through with this?

I'm not looking for "Turkey bad, America good." I'm genuinely trying to make an informed decision based on the options I can actually afford.

MSW student torn between paid crisis line job vs. clinical internship role

Hey everyone,

I’m an incoming MSW student and I’m currently struggling with a career decision. I was recently accepted into a clinical internship role, but at the same time I also received an opportunity to work with a 24/7 crisis line through a behavioral health company.

The crisis role would involve handling calls/chats related to mental health crises, de-escalation, assessments, safety planning, and referrals. It’s paid, and there’s also a possibility it could count toward internship/field placement hours.

My dilemma is this:
The crisis role seems like strong behavioral health experience, but it wouldn’t involve carrying a caseload or building long-term therapeutic relationships with clients. The clinical internship role feels more aligned with traditional social work training and direct clinical development.

My long-term goal is to become an LCSW and work clinically, so I’m trying to make the smartest decision for my future. Financially, the paid role would help a lot, but I’m also worried about sacrificing more traditional clinical experience early on.

For those already in MSW programs or working clinically:

  • Would you consider crisis line work strong clinical experience?
  • Did any of you start in crisis intervention before moving into therapy/case management?
  • Do you think not having a caseload this early matters long-term?
  • Would you choose a paid crisis role over a traditional clinical internship?

I’d really appreciate honest advice from people in the field. Thanks!
