The Sandman from folklore! He blesses people's dreams with the magic sand released from his censer :)

I was going to sell him as an adoptable but I got attached, so now he's integrated into my story 💜

The Sandman knows the true purpose of dreams: Much like how pain signals tell you that something is wrong with your body, the mind scrapes together everything in recent experience to create a story spoken by the language of your soul. It is the mind helping you self-reflect when you cannot in your waking moments.

These sleepy stories range anywhere between complete nonsense, to heady desires exploding inward... to nightmares.

Oh, nightmares do serve their purpose. But sometimes, all they do is beat you down more and more. You've been forced to wallow in your trauma every waking moment of your life; must it really follow you to the vulnerability of sleep?

This is where the Sandman likes to intervene. He is a deity of dreams who believes that slumber deserves to be a moment of reprieve for those already fighting in their waking lives. The censer he carries is filled with a blessed sand that reframes even the most horrifying nightmares into something manageable, even comforting sometimes.

And for those who suffer the most? The Sandman himself enters their dreams, offering metaphorical yet gentle guidance before dissipating like sand as they awaken - rested, if only a little more than before.

The Sandman carries a lazy but elegant serenity; one that says "It is okay to take it easy. Drift in the peace with me."

He adores mortals. He admires their adaptability and determination, but knows that the other side of that coin is feeling things so deeply they can just as easily break. He loves to see them thrive most of all, so he's not above nudging them in the right direction.

In my fighting game "Willpower Theory", the Sandman is an NPC who blesses the dreams of troubled fighters between fights. He came to the tournament through Jaxen's world, whom he had been blessing the sleep of regularly. Now aware of the multiverse, he has to grapple with the fact that he cannot feasibly help those beyond his world.
