Getting the app to show the interior temperature, not exterior?

I assume this is not possible?

I was on the app yesterday and it said 20c. I was surprised but thought "lovely, I don't need to pre-cool the car".

I got in and the internal temperature was 29c. Obviously the app is telling me the outside temperature. Presumably just pulling data from the internet based on the cars location.

But I don't care about the outside temperature as much as the inside. I want to know if I need to cool/heat the cabin. Or maybe think the car is going to heat/cool bit it actually does the opposite because I can't see if the car is less than or more than 22c.

Whyyyyyyyy Polestar, whyyy!

Has any content that you have reported ever been taken down by Facebook?

I've reported the odd thing over the years and nothing has ever been taken down by Facebook. Some I could concede might be arguable and free-speech obviously needs protection.

But the other day someone posted literal hardcore porn as a video in a comment on some sort of community article. I mean man and woman fully at it and you could see everything.

I reported it for nudity/sexual content, or whatever that category is. I'm not especially prudish but it's the type of group that a lot of people, including potentially minors, would see it and not expect to see such.

I got a notification just now that it was not removed.

Maybe it has already been removed and that's why the message said it's not removed?

But what sort of things have you reported and what was the outcome?

WaterAid disputes claim by Prof Jason Arday

The cards keep tumbling.

In short, he said he installed wells abroad for WaterAid. WaterAid said they don't send volunteers into the field abroad. It has now been removed from his uni biography.

This follows numerous significant allegations against claims made by Arday.

I expect he will be pushed firmly to resign quite soon.

Bought a new set of P790 black irons. Spent 7 hours authenticating them. Did I miss anything?

I used XRF Spectroscopy and a scanning electron microscope to authenticate them. I also measured their girth. They're legit right?

Players taking bags to the next tee before putting

Rant time. Is this a thing where you play?

First up, I'm in the UK, everyone walks.

Certain groups at my course always take their bag to the next tee box before putting. I don't mean leaving their bags on the correct side of the green, I mean they'll by the green, then walk 50 yards away from the green to leave their bag at the next tee, walk 50 yards back with their putter, putt, and walk 50 yards to the next tee. Instead of just leaving their bag green side.

We have some driveable par 4s. Twice this week I've got onto the tee, saw a 4-ball all walk to the next tee with their bags, going out of sight. I've set up, hit my drive and whilst the ball is mid-air, then seen them all emerge and walk back to the green. Thankfully one was short and the other into the bunker.

It's just slow and dangerous. And yes, I'll now wait a bit longer when I see the aforementioned.

*50 yards is the high end, usually maybe 20 or 30

What has the BBC ever done for me?

Given a recent thread which caused some heated discussion, I thought I'd ponder what the BBC has done for me and, to this point, if it has been worth it.

I first calculated my lifetime license fee spend from birth, so the license fee for that year, adjusted, divided by the number of people in the household. It comes to just under £1400, which is about £3.50 a month.

Looking at everything I got for that, a few things that stood out to me:

  • CBBC etc growing up
  • Bitesize as a student
  • My rewatchable favourite panel shows QI, Mock the Week, and HIGNFY (which I think is an incredibly important show)
  • The major sporting events such as Football and Rugby world cups, Wimbledon, the Olympics
  • A variety of dramas/thrillers/series such as Unforgotten, Dr Who, Torchwood, Sherlock
  • The old-school comedy like the Two Ronnies, Open All Hours, Black Adder, many more as well as newer ones like Gavin and Stacey, Alan Partridge and Live at the Apollo Stand-up
  • Top Gear
  • News
  • Radio 4 is my default for in the car
  • Attenborough

Obviously there's lots more. Some good, some bad, some forgotten, but these are just the highlights for me, looking back.

So my question is, do I think the above has been worth £1.4k to me across my lifetime and the answer is a resounding Yes.

Obviously the landscape is changing and that doesn't necessarily mean it will be worth it going forward. I also consume less of my TV media from the BBC than I did (but probably more overall due to Radio 4). I just found it an interesting thought experiment.

[Request] How much earth is actually required to safely earth a cable?

Say a typical domestic electrical supply into earth with pretty average parameters (conductivity etc).

Let's say earthed into a perfectly insulated container of X mass soil - what is X?
