Best flea collar I can use?

Hey! I want to start this by saying this is not my dog. She is basically my god child, she’s to go to me if anything happens to her owner. Also I am a cat and aquatics owner and I’m known to dislike dogs. I like them, but from afar. They stress me out for a number of reasons. Chloe has been the single exception, there’s something about her that was love at first sight. Everything a normal dog does that stresses me out I couldn’t care less if Chloe did. So I while I know how dog behavior works and how to read them I’m not super knowledgeable on their care products.

The situation is a bit hard to describe but her owner is an elder man with health issues, he has ptsd and is a veteran as well as early (Alzheimer’s?).

Her owner lives in the family’s large outdoor shed right now, as he’s fixing his van. So Chloe is an outside dog. I’m not going to get deep into details but she is very well loved and he would rather feed her than himself. Not that the family allows it Ofcourse. So I know she’s well fed and a happy pup but he doesn’t really have money and no one in the family has renewed her flea collar.

Since she is always outside I don’t think traditional flea medicine would work very well, and would be really expensive to maintain.

I don’t have a great job as I’m still pretty fresh out of highschool and am finally getting into the works of a good carrier so I can eventually afford her.

I care about them both and want to make sure Chloe has everything she needs that he’s not able to cover.

I don’t like flea collars and wouldn’t use them in any other circumstance but they said the one the family got her last year worked really well.

Sorry for the long post, I get paid next Friday and planned to go get that, her favorite treats and some others I think she’d like.

Any healthy (quick to eat) recommendations for treats would also be loved 🫶 and just to add, her hair texture is very wiry and course because of the type of terrier in her.

FIRST CATCH ME!

Got my very first catch me + the whole collection!
The only place in my entire area that has had these is Micheal’s. I’ve gone 3 times now on different days to check and grab them each go and some how ended up with the whole box basically.

I was aiming for the regular hairless cat as I LOVE hairless cats. I have the giant one (biggie g) the regular one (grape) and now the key chain! (Grape jr) but what should I name the catch me?! It has to have grape in it!

How to pin bugs?

Found this bug in a sprite case we got shipped to our store! All my co workers were freaked out by it but I was so exited!

  1. Is it legal?

  2. What is it

  3. How do I pin it, otherwise could I be directed to a source that will help?

I also have no issue making this a wet specimen either.

I am from Kansas and I don’t believe this bug is native here.

Happy to post a picture of the top of it too when I get the chance

5.5 months post op update.

I want to start this with saying thank you to everyone who has given me great advice and peace of mind.

This will be long as I’d like to sum up my entire experience.

I 19 F got a total laparoscopic hysterectomy.
I have pretty bad ovarian cysts, endometriosis and a multitude of other conditions that are genetic such as EDS.

One of the main reasons I got a hysterectomy is because I was terrified of getting pregnant. To a point that it was a phobia and was constantly clouding my mind with worry regardless if I was having sex or not even with condoms.

I’ve spent the last 19 years fighting doctors to believe me that something is wrong, finding things I love and then having them come crashing down because new symptoms of the conditions they said wasn’t there were surfacing.

I’ve had my family pressure me for grandkids and having a big family.

So, I decided to just get it removed. So here is a list of my personal pros and cons.

Pros:
•I will never have to buy period products again, except the occasional liners because of discharge.

Orgasms have never felt better! I was worried my sensitivity would dull but my sexual pleasure feels way better than it did before.

I was not cleared for sex till 8 weeks but took 12 before everything felt comfortable enough to do it.

Now 5 months in I’m back to having (non gentle) sex, with no pain or discomfort and absolutely 0 fear of getting pregnant.

I also have chronic SI joint inflammation, and to get the screws to stabilize my hips would mean “I can’t give birth naturally” so now that I’ve had this surgery insurance can no longer use that argument against me.

I feel like I can live life without being interrupted by sudden cramps or bleeding.

And this might sound weird but every single time without fail, when I would go to this one specific Mexican restaurant with them (whether I knew I was going or not) I would get horrible cramps and my period before, during or after. Every. Single. Time. I have now been able to enjoy said food without the horrible cramping torment.

Con’s:
My mother cried probably the first dozen times she saw me after my surgery.

I was not able to eat ANYTHING for the first week or 2.

It took me a week before I was able to use the stairs, and even with gas X and laxatives I was still a little backed up so I had extra discomfort.

I haven’t seen anyone mention this yet so I will. When you stand up, hold your support pillow to your abdomen and use the other arm to lean against the wall. Just breathe and let everything settle the first couple times you stand up. There’s extra space and feeling everything shift the first couple times was really wierd for me.

I did end up having to get a (silver nitrate?) application twice, but since then everything has healed up very nice!

Another struggle I wasn’t expecting is the anxiety after having surgery. It wasn’t even about the surgery, I just had a gut wrenching anxiety until I was able to get out of the house and back to normal life.

My recommendations:

GAS X (helped move things along)

Wedge pillow (helped me sit up and be more independent with the things I wanted to do)

Grabber tool (I’m clumsy and drop things a lot so this was helpful)

Support! (Even though I had people close to me I felt very lonely through it. So please be open and honest about how you’re feeling with who’s taking care of you. It’s a big change and there’s going to be a lot of feelings about it, and I wish I had just told the people around me how I was feeling.)

TAKE YOUR TIME!! (DONT RUSH! Take your time getting back into sex and pleasure. It took me 4 weeks before I was even comfortable considering my vibrator. And this applies for regular daily household chores too. Do not push yourself. You only have 1 chance to heal properly.

As a smoker, as soon as I was off the pain meds (about 2 weeks I think) I started taking edibles. This helped me pass the time and relax during my spouts of anxiety. also if your a vaper, while no I did not have any complications from picking it up again too early, I did notice discomfort with continued use.

As of today, I am lifting heavy things and having very satisfying sex but it was a long journey getting here. And I hope if anyone else is struggling with this or thinking about getting it I hope this helped you make your choice ❤️.

If there are any questions I’m happy to answer!

Requesting suggestions for 30 gallon terrarium: substrate and plants.

Currently I am removing the old silicon to replace it and we’re finishing up the details on the stand.

I plan to post pictures but for now I’d really appreciate a list of things I need.

I already have a drainage layer, charcoal and a mesh layer since I’d like to plant the tank.

What substrates do you recommend? Multi layered is fine especially if that’s what they need.

I’m going to keep the wild species Armadillidium vulgare, they are grey with yellowish white dots.

Are there any plants you’d recommend? I will also be purchasing spring tails for the tank.

How would you rate my puff

This is Miss Ember, aka the terrorist.

She earned this nickname because the day she walked into the house (yes that’s how we adopted her) she has caused chaos and destruction.

She loves being complimented but she’s awkward, she will squirm around and meow at you if you tell her she’s beautiful or pretty or gorgeous.

She doesn’t like being looked at wrong, pet without her permission, or bothered in her sleep.

If you break any of these rules she will seek out my cat snowball (photos upon request) and throw him around for a bit.

How ever she will occasionally ask for uppies as seen in photo 6 and will very happily bundle her self up into my arm and accept love for about 2 minutes before she’s done.

She is my 9lbs of fur, fury and laughs. She keeps everyone on their toes (especially when she tries tripping you on the stairs)

And she has a habit of running up the stairs so fast she crumples her self before continuing.

Does he look happy?

This is George. I’ve had George about a year and a half now and from what I was told he has poor genetics to begin with, and he is showing signs of old age.

He is in a 10 gallon planted, filtered and heated tank. He gets new plants every pay check because if he doesn’t he will literally get pouty.

He spends a lot of time sleeping on his clear tunnel but eats every time I feed him including live food, and interacts with me when I see him.

I just want to know if his behavior looks happy or not to be honest.

Rate jelly beans tank

This is jelly bean!

She is in a 20 gallon long tank
Temp is 78f
It’s sponge filtered
And always getting new plants.
Just wanted to show off! Had this tank going for around 6+ months!

If anyone is wondering about her odd shape, she got stuck in a piece of shrimp wood. She has been long healed and I’m happy to say she is a happy food aggressive princess 👑

Found this while thrifting, is it a rock?

Hey! I found this while thrifting, it looks like either a rock or maybe petrified wood? My sister says it looks like a horseshoe, but it doesn’t look like old metal.

Any ideas?
And please let me know if better pictures are needed. It’s in a nailed shut shadow box

Appreciation post for my late girl leviathan

Just to start off, unfortunately my big eared radix leviathan passed away.

I’ve had her for about 4 months. I was so exited to find her at Petco but didn’t know anything about her. I was 2 weeks away from my surgery and decided to do research.

2 weeks into my surgery I went back to get her after confirming she can live In my tank.

However they live longer in cold water, and I have a warm water tank. I knew our time together wouldn’t be long but I cherished her dearly.

I got her no bigger than an inch which was still large compared to my others, she passed away at nearly 2 inches!

Leviathan was a snail I’ll never forget. I’ve never had the experience of friendly pond snails let alone WANTING to be held. The first day I brought her home she didn’t hide or shy away, she crawled right on my finger and started cleaning me.

Any time I had to pick her up she would come out of her shell even more and say hi knowing I came with food and love.

She would spend HOURS surfing the waters surface, she loved playing in bubbles and her favorite food was broccoli.

I noticed she was slowing down and was more dull than usual, so I offered some carrot as she had never tried it before and then made an extra strength snello with extra calcium to try and get her extra nutrients.

I’m happy to say she enjoyed her own chunk of carrot and snello but has passed. Today will be the 3rd day of her gone and I’m really upset about it.

But I’m seeing her babys now ❤️ I’m glad she lives on and I’ll have more little leviathans to care for.

Rip leviathan, I will miss you greatly.

The last 2 photos are the first day I brought her home, when I reached in to take her out the first thing she did was start cleaning me.

First snello batch!

(Accidentally dropped something on that messed up one before putting it in the freezer)

Finally took my shot at snello today!

Google said to use 1 Tbsp of gelatin per cup of purée and I ended up with about 2 cups.

1 head of broccoli, 1 zucchini, and 1 package of spinach. I also baked and crushed 7 egg shells, added 2 Tbsp of fish flakes, 1 Tbsp of freeze dried blood worms for extra protein and 3 ground algae wafers.

I boiled the broccoli for about 7 min until soft, then added the zucchini, cooked for about 4, then added the spinach and cooked until everything was Mashable.

I drained it but saved the stock, adding in small amounts at a time while using my emulsion blender until smooth.

Then I blended in the egg shells and the other ingredients.

Last thing I added was the gelatin and spooned it into my molds! I plan on breaking these up a bit before feeding.

Any advice would be great! This was my first time making it, I have lots of snails and a hand full shrimps in my 20 gallon, and I didn’t want anyone competing for food :)

Advice for old snail.

Hey! To start off, I’ve had Leviathan my Big eared Radix for almost 3 months. In warm water I know they don’t live as long as cold water and she was already really large when I got her.

I just noticed today that she’s been really slow, and not really wanting to do a whole lot.

She ate when I offered her food but other wise Is just slowly making her way through the tank.

She is in a 20 gallon long, planted, heated and filtered tank.

Should I move her to a smaller tank? Or should I leave her in the large tank? I just want my girl to be comfortable, she’s about the size of my thumb now and I’ve also noticed she’s kind of keeping herself a lot more tucked in than usual.

She doesn’t hide in her shell or anything when I pick her up like usual but she’s just slower and not doing her usual snail business.

She loves climbing and spending her time on the water surface before taking a nap on my water Lilly which is her favorite plant.

I’m devastated I might loose her soon but I really just want her to be comfortable if she really is getting close.

Google said they live 6 months- a year in warmer water since their metabolism speeds up. And they don’t grow all that fast considering her baby’s right now are only the size of baby bladder snails, so considering her size that’s also why I think she’s getting old.

Last 2 photos are of her now, the rest are before.

She’s also getting duller and isn’t quite as “shiny” is the best way to describe her almost glitter like pattern.

Carrot slug

Technically not a snail but he will be cooked and turned into snail food when I get home 👍 got bored and made him at work!

Sexing my new shrimpsons

These were sold to me as orange bee neos. I got 2 pregnant females, 1 we thought was male and a “we don’t know”. Unfortunately one mother had a mismolt but everyone else is doing great! I think mother 2 has dropped her eggs, but I was kind of expecting it since it was such a large move.

Let me know if you need better photos! I’ll do 1 photo of each shrimp for easy labeling of 1,2 and 3. If you need a better picture I’m happy to supply more!

I just want to know if I need to go get any more of either gender to get some Maggie’s around here

Theoretically, could I make a wild enclosure?

I’m curious, am I able to take plants and native isopods? The wild ones near me have incredible colors and I have a tank big enough I could take some of their rocks they like out there.

I assume soil would be where I have to special order rather than use outside dirt so recomendations for that would great too! I have cork wood and a large package of leaf litter from another colony I have. Just curious if this is possible

Boyfriends dad found this adorable baby boy

Not sure if this is allowed but if it is he is looking for a home. He’s not neutered, but is very loving. He’s a stray, so also would need his shots.

I’m referring to him as goblin :)

Btw I’m located by west bottoms kcmo, while I don’t have a car at the moment I’m sure a finding a ride won’t be a problem though.

He was found by my boyfriend’s dad in garnet. 2nd cat that’s found us! Last 4th of July I found a tiny black kitten we called goob. He lives happily with one of my friends!

He’s a grey tabby, not sure how old either. I’d have to ask for his weight.

Sorry if it’s rambling, just trying to fill the paragraph requirement!

Appreciation post for my pond snail leviathan.

This is leviathan, she’s my big ear radix!

I originally got a mystery snail, I have a 20 gallon and I was told they usually have really strong personalities. If you call sleeping, eating and pooping all day a strong personality then sure!

I recently had surgery and 2 weeks before I saw this little glittery snail at my Petco, I wanted it so bad but didn’t know anything about it so I took pictures to id and left it.

3 weeks into my surgery she is still there. So naturally I take her and her counterpart Cthulhu home.

She LOVES people!! She takes little naps on the water Lilly, is constantly around the tank, loves playing in bubbles and gliding on the water surface. She is the most unique snail I’ve ever met. While Cthulhu would hide in his shell when he saw me, leviathan never shied away. The first thing she did was climb onto my hands.

I’m also starting to see baby leviathans 🤭

Big ear radix dying!

Please help! I have. 20 gallon long, filtered and heated tank. I have a male betta in there but he’s getting old so doesn’t really care about any other living things in his tank anymore.

I picked up leviathan my biggest big ear radix from the pet store for free. I love her so much.

Later I saw a 2nd one, I named him Cthulhu, he was just a little smaller than leviathan.

And then my friend called and said he had another one he rescued from a tank his class was dumping out. Of course I took him, especially being another radix. He was the smallest so his name was Jim (jimmy) the destroyer of worlds.

I am DEVASTATED! I found what I’ve determined to be Cthulhu’s shell empty and just found Jim’s shell with him still in it but literally torn apart. I don’t want this to happen to leviathan or any of my many snails.

I have a large mystery named Thor, a large MTS and lots of tiny MTS. + the usual ramshorns and bladders. I cull when the population grows too much and I feed regularly, okra, broccoli, and algae wafers. Looking into spinach and zucchini too. Please help! I love my snails so much and finding Lil Jim like that broke my heart 💔.

Please excuse the poor quality photos, my big MTS was blocking one of the photos cause that’s what he does, and jimmy is tucked behind some plants but I moved his shell to see if he was ok and he was not. So sorry again about the photo quality.
