How to pass the stones faster?

The worst pain i have ever experienced.

much worse than broken bones.

Went to ER. Given Tamsulosin and painkillers. Been told its a small stone that can pass on its own.

It feels like my kidney is about to burst 🥴

Should i just keep drinking water?

Anything else i can do to pass this thing faster? I don't know like jumping, massaging, etc?

I can use your kind advice.

OpenAI Prism?

Any idea if Prism will be around for the foreseeable future?
I am planning on migrating everything from Overleaf to Prism, which includes asking my coauthors to use Prism as well.

I usually use VSCode+TeXLive locally with Git but not everyone is willing to work with them.

[not mine] costs

Saw this on a random social media post. I believe what we are seeing here is two sxm2 gpus, right? V100 or a100?

Assuming two v100 with 32gb each, can you get nvlink working with these weird aftermarket base boards?

Costs, experience, regrets?

Not trying to build a similar case, but i am curious to compare the costs against a similar consumer/gaming setup.

Looking for a cookbook for RVV-1.0

Hi
Have you come across any books about RVV-1.0 intrinsic programming?
I know my way around AVX but RVV still feels uncomfortable...
Any advice?

Options to access a machine back home behind building's network

Hi there.
I have a linux machine back home that is connected to the network that the building provides and obviously, I dont have access to their routers.

I think I cannot use ddns either since i cannot port forward to my machine's IP. Maybe my machine should connect to a server outside the network and expose a port?

What are my options to have direct access to my machine reliably (ssh, scp, rsync)?

Doesn't POST, ddr light - Z890, 250K

Gigabyte Z890M Gaming (MicroATX)

Intel 250K

DDR5 Patriot 6000, 16GB*1

First boot, ddr light turns on, stays on for 20 sec then cpu light blinks and computer restarts.

Same thing happens again.

Whats wrong?

I tried reseating the ram, didn't work.

Also moved it to the next slot, same problem persisted.

Jonsbo C6 (MATX) + SFX PSU + Large CPU Cooler?

I know that the case does not have mountings for SFX PSUs. But I am wondering if I can somehow rotate an SFX PSU and fit it somehow in order to have the room needed to install a full sized CPU air cooler? (not a low profile one)

Any advice or example images of other similar builds?

If it matters, im going with MATX + Ultra 245K + 5060ti. So i guess cooling matters a bit.

Final check before purchase

  • Jonsbo C6-ITX Mini ITX Desktop Case
  • ASRock B860I WiFi Mini ITX LGA1851 Motherboard
  • Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus 4.2 GHz 18-Core Processor
  • Noctua NH-L9x65 33.84 CFM CPU Cooler
  • RAM (i will use 2x32gb laptop rams with two adapters, ddr5)
  • Asus DUAL OC GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB Video Card
  • Gigabyte GP-P650G PG5 650 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply

Questions:

  1. Can Jonsbo C6 fit all these?
  2. Do i need a PCIe5 raiser for Jonsbo C6? The pictures are confusing.
  3. What do you think about the CPU cooler? Can I go with a larger dual fan one instead? any advice? I dont want to use any AIO liquid cooler.

The case should fit in a small carry-on suitcase without any issues. Assuming the suitcase itself weighs around 3 kg and the case weighs another 3 kg, that would leave about 3 kg for all the components and 1 kg for the wiring, which should be sufficient, right?

Am i missing something important?

Pytorch Training - RTX5060ti 16G OR RTX5070 12G

Which one would u pick for a single GPU machine that is meant for training small models locally?
They both cost the same roughly

Hi,

I am planning to build a homelab that is as small and portable as possible, even if that means sacrificing ports, PCIe slots, SATA connectivity, and other expandability features.

I do not care too much about having a powerful CPU or large RAM capacity. An older Intel generation or even something like an i3-12100 would probably be enough. I am considering either micro ATX or ITX form factors. The goal is to make relocation easy, so I can disassemble everything and move the components safely in their original boxes.

For the case, I am thinking about an open-frame design that simply lets the motherboard sit on a flat base, with an L-shaped frame to mechanically support and secure PCIe cards. I prefer everything to remain exposed and easy to access.

Cooling can stay very simple, ideally just the stock Intel cooler or another compact low-profile option.

For the GPU and PSU, I am considering a 600 to 700W power supply paired with something like an RTX 5060 or an older equivalent up to an RTX 3060. I can live with 8GB of VRAM, and I am completely fine with used GPUs as long as they are physically in good condition and not bent or damaged.

Is there?
I am considering using vast.ai for my research (mostly ML/DL workloads), but assuming that its a container, i guess the system admin can always find a way to access all my code/data.

Am I being paranoid?
how do people deal with this?
